Tn226Need some magnifying eyewear
I have a project that requires replacement of LEDs on a circuit board. They are tiny and my old eyes are no way up to the task. The only thing I've tried so far turned out to be more suited to jewelers than electronics Anybody have any suggestions as to what to get?

maladatThe Optivisor is the usual pick for this type of thing. They're great. See this recent thread:

dynoratI used to stock these for the uhm, more experienced techs, three different magnification levels available. In bulk for a box of 10 price was about $3 each.

architectAfter I had cataract surgery, I found I'd lost my close-up focus, and had to use readers. The 1.25's were fine for reading and computer use, but I also picked up a pair of 2.5's and 3.5's for very close work. With each step up in magnification, the focal point moved closer to my face, the usable depth of focus shrank, and it was easier to see tiny details. I still keep the 3.5's in my toolbox in case I have to solder something tiny at a client's, but I haven't pulled them out in years.

sns3guppyI use drug store reading glasses. If a part requires a lot of magnification, I go with a 10X magnifying glass.

Thanks dynorat, I ordered a few to keep in my tool box. These will work great when I am under the dash working on the small assed wires that manufacturers use nowadays.

TRIOHave you considered a cheap USB microscope? My coworker uses one and likes it.
