Keeping the economy moving since 1964 |
A neighbor gave me 8 boxes of these 12 ga. slugs. Is there a way to tell how old they are from the info in the attached photos? Your assistance is appreciated. ----------------------- You can't fall off the floor.

I believe that Olin stopped using the Western only branding in the late sixties. I had a document with a lot of that type of info on it I had discovered when researching a box of old shells a buddy had. I thought I had it saved, but am not finding it. If I do I'll post it.

If you look at the following link, assuming the info is correct, it looks like those would be from the 70s (based on fonts/logos and being in a white box branded “Western” rather than “Winchester.” The similar box is in the WWBoxes-3 file. https://www.mdshooters.com/thr...n-ammo-boxes.178198/ I’ve shot a lot of rifle ammo that old without any problems, but haven’t shot any shotgun ammo that old.

Thanks for the info. Shot 20 of the slugs today and had no issues, in fact I shot well with them at 50 yards. ----------------------- You can't fall off the floor.

Thank you! Great information and a spot on match for what I have. The wealth of information here and the willingness of members to share it never ceases to impress and humble me. ----------------------- You can't fall off the floor.
