Florida Democrat says those 'making fun' of members of Congress online should be 'prosecuted'

Democrat Rep. Frederica Wilson said people who are “making fun” of members of Congress online should be “prosecuted.”

The Florida Congresswoman made the comments on Tuesday outside of the Homestead Temporary Shelter for Unaccompanied Children in her home state.

"Those people who are online making fun of members of Congress are a disgrace, and there is no need for anyone to think that is unacceptable,” Wilson said.

“We're gonna shut them down and work with whoever it is to shut them down, and they should be prosecuted,” she added. “You cannot intimidate members of Congress, frighten members of Congress. It is against the law, and it's a shame in this United States of America.”

Wilson’s comments came amid a controversy over a Facebook group that includes Border Patrol agents and where they allegedly mocked and posted graphic content about members of Congress, including New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The website ProPublica posted a story Monday headlined “Inside the Secret Border Patrol Facebook Group Where Agents Joke About Migrant Deaths and Post Sexist Memes.”

In addition to showing indifference toward the deaths of migrants, members made vulgar jokes about Ocasio-Cortez and other members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus ahead of their visit a Border Patrol facility in Texas on Monday, the story alleged.

Wilson also blamed President Trump for people losing respect for Congress and the White House, saying he has “taken this country to its knees.”

She once accused Trump of being “hateful towards black people” and declined to participate in the State of the Union address in 2018.

The congresswoman also rose to prominence in 2017 after she leaked the conversation Trump had with the Gold Star widow whose husband died in Niger and criticized the president for being “so insensitive” after he said that the slain soldier “knew what he signed up for…but when it happens, it hurts anyway.”

I have to stop watching/reading the news before my head explodes.

Hey Freddie, got some news for you:

1. You need to refer to that thing called the Constitution, you know that oath you took when you swore into congress (yep, it wasn't all about making money for you, family, and friends). If you need more explicit directions, refer to Bill of Rights, FIRST Amendment.

2. People lost respect for Congress a long, long time ago. That is not a recent thing.

3. Please keep coming up with stupid ideas. All President Trump needs to do is run campaign commercials of all the stupid shit you and your fellow democraps have said. There is more than enough material from just the last 3 months to get through the whole campaign season.

Members of local, state and federal legislatures who portray conservatives as fools, racist, etc. are a disgrace and should not be in those positions.

So she is inferring that if you are a piece of garbage, and people don’t respect you, but instead mock you and hate you for your lame brain antics, we should make it a law that we should worship your wisdom and give you the proper respect. Ok, you ass-wipe. Another brilliant idea.

Maybe there is a typo or maybe my command of English isn't what it once was, but I read this as "making fun isn't inacceptable."
