Had a Stack-on security box. Paid about 100 for it 7-8 years ago. Electronic keypad. Had it bolt to a closet shelf. Worked ok. Easy place to put some keys, pistol, etc. Not super secure like my big gunsafe, but handy. The new model Stack On seems pretty flimsy. My fault, battery died and key was lost. Had to have it drilled out. Any recommendations?

I use gun vault’s micro vault for visitors who need a locking box. It comes with a cable for wrapping around a car seat in a car. Key back up . Holds a full sized P226 and three mags, keys and a can of OC… https://www.academy.com/shop/p...31b838a&gclsrc=aw.ds "Violence, naked force, has settled more issues in history than has any other factor.” Robert A. And I’ll follow with my Vline recommendation. https://www.vlineind.com/products/ I don’t like batteries. Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here. Agree 100% on not liking batteries. I’ve got nano 300s in most of the vehicles. They aren’t huge, a P226 and a couple of magazines is most of what you are going to get in there. https://gunvault.com/product/nanovault-300/ I liked the previous version better, where the lock was mounted 90 degrees to the current version. The pistol cannot be under the lock footprint (at least with a P226 or P226) as the lock takes too much of the depth.

Fort Knox pistol safe with a Simplex mechanical lock. ------------------- "Oh bother", said Pooh, as he chambered his last round.

FAS 1 makes a heck of a sturdy pistol box using a mechanical lock. The Fort Knox is also a good choice. The advantages to the V-Line are that they come in several different configurations, although slightly lighter in construction.

I agree with Fort Knox or Vline. My advice would be to not buy anything without checking if BosnianBill or LockPickingLawyer has done a video on it on youtube. They specifically have tested a lot of these pistol safes. Some of the mechanical override locks are junk or they have other vulnerabilities that you should know about.

Get the one with the thickest metal and a Simplex lock. "But, as luck would have it, he stood up. He caught that chunk of lead." My v-line is fairly heavy with a simplex lock. My next to bed is a gun vault brand has finger groves push buttons on the top for fast access. That is one thing the V-line isn't.

Anyone use the Hornady brands? I like the looks of their AR safe. Flat, low. Hoping anything Hornady will be quality?
