Here are the top 50 metropolitan areas in the United States ranked by how much they give to philanthropic causes. Notice the that the top 10 metro areas are all in solid red conservative areas, as are most the of top 20, and the bottom 10 are mostly liberal bastions. Not a surprise, but still good info to have at your disposal: https://www.philanthropy.com/a...e-Give-in-the/152497 How Much People Give in the Largest Cities This article was updated on January 13, 2015. See our editor’s note. Only two of the 50 biggest metropolitan areas—Salt Lake City and Memphis—gave more than 5 percent of income to charity. The two least-generous were Hartford, Conn., and Providence, R.I., which each gave less than 2 percent of income. Looks like a pretty consistent inverse relationship between taxation and charitable giving. | |||

Why yes.... you may be on to something: "Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." -- Justice Janice Rogers Brown "Some things are apparent.
