newmexicanI got the green light to start walking again.
Well, I had my final appointment for my ankle this morning, the x-ray showed that all the fractures were healed, the doctor was impressed with my range of motion as well.
One thing that really surprised me is that a horizontal screw has already broken. My last x-ray was 5 weeks ago and the screw wasn't broken then but the doctor said it would break. I guess I was expecting it to happen after I started putting weight on the foot and even then I was expecting it to happen several months from now but apparently, just the rubber band exercises and stretching can break the thing.
Anyways, the doctor told me that the process of walking again was very non-scientific and to just go as I feel and eventually ditch the crutches, I haven't tried yet, I'm in my hotel and thinking of giving it a whirl.
Any advice from people about this stage of the process would be greatly appreciated, Im not out of the woods yet, I still have a ways to go but its a start.

VBVAGUYAs other have suggested obtain a cane. Also if you have access to a treadmill, that will help too. God Bless

Gustofer75% weight for a week, 50% for a week, 25% for a week, then crutch/cane free.
I pushed it and went for a couple of days each rather than the week, but that is the PT recommendation.

newmexicanSo far I've just walked around the hotel room, played around with it, shifting weight etc, feels surprisingly good, Im not sure what % Im actually doing but its nice to be at this stage, I remember how hopeless it all seemed early in the game.
