Marky was at 150/81 before lunch and he's at 149/88 now. Much more stable and very encouraging.

Marky got moved out of ICU and into a regular room this afternoon. I got a call from Renal that said they are planning to discharge him tomorrow. Now we have to learn about his 4 or 5 new medications and how to dose them.

Planning to bring Marky home today we decided to call off Friday and spend the night in Pittsburgh. Unfortunately, his blood pressure is still not under control. It's been too high all night. The drive was really putting a hurting on our bodies so it's probably good that we stayed. I'm just very disappointed.

I can't imagine how stressful it feels to you. If possible, try to relax whenever possible. It can be understandably overwhelming.

The real stress has just begun. He's got 6 new medications that have to be given at proper tines and we have to check BP a lot. It sure feels like too many pills but we've gone over the dosing about 100 times. Still nervous about doing something wrong or missing something important.

Set up notifications on your phone. I think one of the Sig Forum members who sells medical equipment had a pill tray with electronic reminders. Hope that helps.

Marky's blood pressure was high at dinner time last night which made him need the as-needed meds which made me super nervous because they were having so much trouble controlling it at Children's. Again unfounded. It seems his BP had been a steady 130-142 over 80 all night. I'm guessing because they lowered his daily prednisone dose and it's finally dropping in his system.

in home nurses will recommend two , three or four different looking 7 day pill boxes.

different colors and shapes, this helps to NOT mixing them up.

and when you are filling them up at the end of the week, fill them on a cookie sheet.

that way when your pill misses the container , you hear it drop on the tray.

example : you always use the red square one , first thing in the morning,
the blue elongated one is for lunch and the yellow round one is for supper.

Medisafe Pill Reminder and Medication Tracker is an app for reminders to take meds, and it gets really good reviews. (I do not use it personally, but thought I would do a little digging for you).

Mark, Been off the forum and hadn't seen this. Started reading at the beginning, but had to skip to the end. Glad Marky is improving and home. Sending prayers for continued healing.

When we had a bunch of pills to give at various times, one of these was helpful, along with phone alarms for the designated times.

Marky had his routine biweekly blood test and it found he has critically low sodium. We're back at the local ER. :sigh:

Marky came home last night. He's doing much better. He was on a low-sodium diet and two medications that deplete sodium. He's off of both of those meds and off of sodium restriction. He's now on a liquid restriction which seems counterintuitive.
