A little background first. My son works at a place that helps the mentally disabled have careers. It's a really nice place and they really help out. When the workers need more hours they will do other things for the clients. In our case, one of the workers sits with my son between the time when I leave for work and when his bus picks him up. That's normally 7:30AM to anywhere from 8:30-9:00.

This evening, the wife and I are watching Jeopardy! and my son says that she's here. Confused

I go outside and ask what she's doing and if she's coming in. I assumed that she was picking my son up as she also takes him for evening outings for recreation, shopping or food from time to time. I have no idea what's going on because one of his other workers just dropped him off from an evening outing.

She walks in, plugs in her phone and sits at our dining room table. *shrug*

I ask "are you taking Marky tonight?" and she replies "I don't take him on Tuesday nights."

"I know. This is Monday night."

She laughs and waves me off.

I go back to get Final Jeopardy right and go back to the dining room. It finally sinks in that she has no idea what time it is so I ask "Do you think this is 7:30AM? Because this is 7:30PM."

She's confused and it finally hits her that she's 12 hours early. She said she got the Moderna vaccine and it's messing with her. I've not kept up on any of that and am wondering if that's a known side-effect.

Anyway, I show her the door and go sit with the wife who is absolutely cracking up. I have a little giggle as well and then realize that maybe we should give her a couple of days off to get her head on straight.

I work both sides of the clock and across a lot of time zones, so it's very common to forget whether it's noon or midnight. I lost track of the number of times I woke up in a hotel room and glanced out the window, expecting daylight, and it was the middle of the night, or visa versa. And I was in a different country than I thought, too. It happens all the time.

The ones that disorient the most are crossing the date line, where we'll land an hour or two before we took off...eight hours ago.

I'm sure the vaccine doesn't help either. I was lethargic for several days after the first shot.

Not 12 hours early but probably 15 years ago my mother called my office (a rare event) and our receptionist sent the call to my office.

After it was over the receptionist came back and was grinning like the Cheshire Cat. She said that mom called to wish me a happy birthday and I said yes. She then laughed that it wasn’t my birthday.

My mother called me on the wrong month. I still get shit about it from the receptionist every year on my birthday. I also called my dad and met him know that moment clock was a bit off Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin

That’s more than an odd occurrence. Might be worth a well check.

12 hours early is on time, and on time is late. She's just being a real go getter.

Agreed since she doesn't sound remotely like a "space cadet."

I was in middle school and I was watching tv one sunday afternoon. I woke up and looked at my alarm clock and read 6:30. In a panic I jump out of the bed afraid I was going to miss the bus. I start to get dressed but I am confused because Star Trek The Next Generation was on the TV and not the news. That's when I figured out it was 6:30pm Sunday evening and not 6:30 Monday morning.

I use a 24 hour clock, based on zulu, and a running clock for the current time zone. Doesn't help.

Been there - done that - got the tee shirt. In the middle 1970"s stationed in Alaska (Delta Junction / Ft. Greely) during the winter months with little or no sunlight have gone to bed in the dark and wake up in the dark and after getting dress go to work station only to realize that I had was several or more hours early due to body clock with the lack of sunshine. And in the summer time with 24hrs of sunlight causes simular results. Have gone to the lake w/canoe on vehicle in the afternoon after getting off duty - loose track of time look at watch and it be 0130am and as due back on duty at 0600am. . Learned to put tin foil on the window glass and maybe blackout curtains to fool the body clock because of the outside daylight. .............................. drill sgt.

Back in the days of paper airline tickets and travel agents, I exhibited at a trade show in Las Vegas every year. One year the owner of the company decided he and his wife were going to go also. They were going a day early and then he would work at the show with me. He made his reservations and I made mine - a couple of months in advance.

A couple of days before we were to leave, he asked if I wanted to ride along to the airport with him. I said OK and we agreed on what time to leave. Everything went fine until we got to the hotel in Vegas and the desk clerk told me my reservation wasn't until the next day. I was a day early!

That was in the early 90's, when airlines just looked at your ticket - before the days of scanners. So the gate agent missed it also. It all worked out .

One winter I actually woke up from a nap around 2100 on Saturday evening and it was dark out and I thought I'd slept through to 0900 (12-hour clocks). I got dressed and out to the car and drove about 1/3 of the way to church before I realized that all the businesses were closed and the wrong shows were playing on the radio. I really felt foolish.

Several times, when working EMS on 12 or 24+ hour shifts. The scheduler (an actual person, before computer scheduling was the norm) sometimes didn’t input what you had bid on. Rather aggravating.

Knowing what one is talking about is widely admired but not strictly required here.

Although sometimes distracting, there is often a certain entertainment value to this easy standard.

I've woken up at 4a and thought it was 4p and freaked out thinking I was late for work. Black out curtains mixed with shift work plays hell sometimes. Same with waking up and thinking I have work and then realize when I'm in the shower I'm off that day.

I have not heard of that being a side effect of the vaccine. May have been a "One off" but certainly worth monitoring, for her well being

Hahaha! Big Grin I wish we'd have thought of that.

She was fine this morning and even joked about being sure of the time.

Yes, on a particularly long sales trip I had to make a change in one of my stops. I got up way before the chickens the next morning to catch my 6 am flight. At 5 am I'm banging on the doors to get in the airport (clue #1) I finally got in and am standing in line all by myself. No other travelers, no counter help, nothing (clue #2)

Finally about 20 minutes before my flight was to take off an airline employee showed up. She politely but merrily told me that I was 12 hours early...

Sucked as I was exhausted and could have use another 3-4 hours in the hotel bed. Instead I spent all day at the airport.

Sigh...
