As is often the case with SigForum threads, I found myself searching the web for review and fora in which compact binos were discussed.

Here is a table from Birdwatching.com that includes high, medium and low-priced compact binoculars. As you can see the Zeiss Terras are tops in the mid-price group; in the top tier I am potentially looking at the Swarovski 8x25’s vs the newer Kowa Genesis 22’s. But both are in the $800 price range.
Edited to add: the new Zeizz Victory 8x25’s seem to have surpassed the previous fave Swarovski 8x25’s, with wider FOV, lower weight, and possibly superior optical performance.
