stoic-oneIn FL, that 16 to 19 SEER swap is going to work out really well for you.

old rugged crossvery nice Benny, congrats. Do you need to run it 24/7 during summer?
What ended up being the total cost when completed?

slabsides45I have no (legit) excuse to add a unit such as this to my Memphis area garage (3 car and hotter than Satan's skillet), but I still covet it. Well, that and a beer fridge....
Well done.

So I spent $7k total on the install and ~$350 for the 3-car garage insulation. So you're looking at close to $7,500 for the total job to be done. However, that's pricing for a 16 SEER unit. My unit would normally cost $2,000 more but I got lucky since the supplier made a mistake.
It's only been operational for 24 hours so far, but it seems to run constant and will circulate the cool air and kick up the cool air when the temp begins to climb. I can set it to shut off during certain hours. The vanes swing and I can program the air flow angle.
The unit is huge and should be pretty efficient for the size of area I'm cooling and it's super quiet. I also had electricians in the house yesterday wiring my garage for my tooling and I had them install surge protection for the whole house as well as both AC units (the blue boxes on the wall). I guess I live in the lightning strike capital of the world, or something...
