Texas ain't Virginia by a long shot. There are some loud leftist in the cities and the valley goes blue but no Democrat has won state wide election in Texas since 1994. The last Democrat Presidential nominee to carry Texas was Jimmy Carter. ______________________________ “I'd like to know why well-educated idiots keep apologizing for lazy and complaining people who think the world owes them a living.” ― John Wayne

Respectfully, this mindset troubles me. Neither the GOP or the NRA are perfect institutions, and there is blame enough to go around to both institutions... but these organizations are only as good as their members allow them to be. There is no getting around the fact that money contributions are a factor in politics...but just as importantly are whether the members of both the GOP and the NRA are actively participating... ...I'm talking frequent emails to elected leaders both to support as well as oppose various proposed bills, I'm talking making appearances and speaking at local and state hearings, I'm talking making the time to organize and appear at fund raisers, rallies, and protests...in short, I'm talking about an energized actively participating membership. Republicans and gun owners seem to frequently be stuck in the mindset that all they have to do is 1) join a political party or organization 2) Once in a while send a few bucks 3) show up and vote on election day...and that should be good enough. The Democrats are busing/ flying in protesters, often paid protesters, they are intimidating/ extorting large corporations for donations and soliciting Leftist leaning wealthy individuals for ever-increasing amounts of contributions, they are exploiting various state voting vulnerabilities to gain illegitimate votes, they have largely captured the entertainment/ Hollywood/ Music/ Sports industries and leveraged them to further their influence and agenda... and they have largely captured the K-12 and college level education institutions and have exploited these to, again, further their influence and agenda. The days of depending solely on a political party like the GOP or a Pro-2A group like the NRA are long gone...it's simply not enough to throw some money at the GOP and NRA, then walk away until election day. If Conservative values and the preservation of the Second Amendment are truly important to some voters, then it is time to move away from the mindset of relying solely on either the GOP or the NRA (or any other 2A group) to serve as a proxy for pushing what "we" want as Conservatives and 2A supporters. Virginia Conservatives and 2A supporters figured this out a little too late for the election, but they ramped up their opposition quickly and made a dent, although it remains to be seen for how long they stay energized. It is time for Conservative and 2A supporters in "safe" states to rethink their previous strategies and mindset, and actively participate in the organizations that they have, up until now, simply sent money to.

I agree. People like to refer to the Cruz/Beto race, and it has been reported that election fraud likely could have contributed to the Dems numbers. There were arrests after the election of a number of poll workers in Travis County, allegedly allowing illegals to vote, along with issues in the electronic booths, choosing Beto when a citizen voted a straight Republican ticket. Gov. Greg Abbott won re-election by a wide margin in his race, while the Senate race was very close. Even Rush Limbaugh thought this was strange. I'm confident that Texas will remain red for the near future. Republicans hold ALL state wide elected offices, including Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Comptroller, all State Commissioners, as well as both U.S. Senate seats, majority of U.S. House of Reps, the majority of State Senate and House seats. Also 100% Republican in the Texas Supreme Court and the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. That is pretty darn red to me. So the question is, could vote fraud change the outcome of this November's election? "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. So the question is, could vote fraud change the outcome of this November's election?[/QUOTE] Wholesale fraud as with mail in without ID, and everyone ID or not gets to vote, then yes. It's not like the national election where you've got an electoral college to even things out...it's a total vote count for the state. The big liberal cities will put out a lot of Dem votes. West Texas, smaller towns and rural areas will for sure vote Trump. In years past it's been enough to swing in the Rep direction. Vis-a Vis Cruse last go round. And that was close. The president just needs to keep doing the right thing and if the economy starts to recover, even a little bit we should be okay. Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves. -D.H. Lawrence

One question: Why is it only Liberals are fleeing states like California and coming to Texas? I'd think the bad policies there would affect people on both sides of the political spectrum. Maybe we need to encourage more Conservatives to also flee and come here? But no, we keep encouraging the Conservatives to stay there and take back their state--an increasingly improbable condition. flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

^^^ Californians really are more liberal across the board than Texans. At the same time, the more liberal areas in California are along the coast where there's more money and opportunities, so coastal Californians have a relatively easier time of finding work out of state and putting together the scratch to move.

That of course make sense. But when the large percentage of these left leaning states are in fact left leaning, if 100 people migrate, 70%~ will be dems. No winning that battle. When Toyota moved headquarters to Plano there was a huge influx of lefties. Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. Yes, when they sell their $2.5M house and pocket $900k, they can come to Texas and buy a mansion (by California standards) for cash. These folks are all around me here in west Houston. -------------------------------------------- Floridian by birth, Seminole by the grace of God

Not to quibble, the real estate market in Silicon Valley has softened a bit in the last couple of years, maybe they sell their house for only $2.3M "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. When you ask these people why they are fleeing California, New York, etc. many say to escape high taxes and other liberal government policies, yet they continue to push for and elect the same leftist politicians and policies they left. Then they always try to tell everyone "how it is done" where they came from.

That needs a repeat. Liberal policies often intensify the problems they were intended to solve. But liberals don't recognize, or they reject, the connection. That's because most Liberals don't have the mental ability to use logic. And Texans really don't like to be told how you did things back there! (Ask me how I know--but I'm a fast learner.) flashguy Texan by choice, not accident of birth

I might suggest a combination of the lack of mental ability and/or the lack of moral integrity. "Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women. We're trying, but we still have to buck not just the liberals, but compulsive douchebags like Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick. The guy put a Dem in charge of a key committee years ago just because he could be assured that she would never allow Constitutional Carry legislation to see the cold light of the state Senate floor! Put it this way - imagine if Bill O'Reilly were from Baltimore, owed his entree into politics to a bunch of neurotic little old ladies in northwest Houston, held the number two spot in your state government, and had almost arbitrary control over the flow of legislation through your state senate.
