Back, and to the left |
I wonder if ammonia (or just the cheapest window cleaner) would make a dent in it? I know it is just the ticket to take off the 'soft' finish of some auto switches once they age and eventually get gooey and sticky. I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all. -Ecclesiastes 9:11 ...But the king shall rejoice in God; every one that sweareth by Him shall glory, but the mouth of them that speak lies shall be stopped. - Psalm 63:11 [excerpted]

If its completely hardened on the paint, your only reasonable option is a pro detailer. They have a rubber wheel for a drill that is used to remove the adhesive left behind from removing trim and emblems that will also work on sap. Using that rubber wheel will unfortunately micro abrade the clear coat big time which will require surface correction too for it to look right. Sap sucks and is a nightmare to remove from paint without doing substantial damage to the surface. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. I have safely and with ease, removed both sticky gummy and glass hard pine sap from one of my Honda Accords which parked beneath pines back in New York State. Denatured alcohol and a soft towel like rag. You soak the rag and work in circular motion. The soft stuff melts right down easy and the hardened requires a bit longer but comes right off. It will remove your wax but no issues with clear coat or paint. Look it up on line as thats how I learned. It works perfect.

Denatured alcohol and patience. When I got my Jeep Liberty from my best friend, it had sat in their garage for over a year with a blown tranny and the untreated pine boards above spotted the entire vehicle. I searched online and found the denatured alcohol tip on a Porsche forum. Took me forever, but it worked great. Buffed and waxed it the next day and you can’t tell it had any sap, let alone was covered in it. Sig P226 .40 S&W Sig SP2022 9mm RIA 1911 Gov't .45 ...and more

as was said the correct answer is denatured alcohol. On a windshield mechanical removal makes the time it takes less. “So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak.”
