Planning a boys trip!
Why Greenfield, Wisconsin you may ask? The answer is Organ Piper Pizza yup that is right we’re
coming to one of the very few places to get Pizza and Pipes!

Going to make a super quick weekend trip sometime in the near future.
Any suggestions on things to do with young kiddos (Oldest is 9) on a Saturday and then Sunday morning?

If you haven’t experienced Pizza and Pipes you should. It’s nothing like the days of old unfortunately.
There used to be a place near our place in Florida called The Roaring 20’s Pizza and Pipes. It had a massive Wurlitzer and decent pizza but it was a blast.
My buddy and I were reminiscing the other day about our trips to Florida and hearing the Mighty Wurlitzer and he said let’s find some place that still does it and takes the boys.

Greenfield, Wisconsin it seems is the closest. .

What time of year?

The State Fair Grounds are in West Allis.

The Pettit National Ice Center is also in West Allis. They have public skating and open hockey year round. In the summer, they have a kids day camp that includes hockey, figure skating, an introduction to curling, etc.

You could also cruise the strip, although that maybe illegal now. The strip is HWY 100 between Greenfield Ave and Layton.

The Milwaukee Mile Speedway is in West Allis.

The greatest bicycle store ever, Wheel & Sprocket, started in Hales Corners and has expanded greatly. I'm not sure these days which store is closest to Greenfield.

Mader's restaurant in Milwaukee is good.

Milwaukee's music festival, Summerfest. 2023 Summerfest Lineup

The Mitchell Park Domes are really cool.

There's the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park.

Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL isn't to far.

If all that isn't enough, Chicago isn't far either. Museum of Science and Industry, Museum of Natural History, Shedd Aquarium, Alder Planetarium, Cubs at Wrigley Field.

I take it Greenfield is a Suburb of Milwaukee? May have to hit up a Brewers game if we can coordinate schedules
Within the next two months.
No time for Chicago. We are talking 7 hour drive for us.
Leave right after school Friday getting us up there about 10pm to check in and go to sleep.
Wake up Saturday and need something to do till dinner time since they only play the pipes for dinner.
Get up Sunday do a little something and drive home 7 hours.

Yes, it is a Milwaukee suburb in Milwaukee County. Most of the things listed are 10 to 20 minutes away. For some reason, I thought Chicago was on your way to and from Greenfield.

I was just about to suggest the HD museum also. Not sure if it is open on Saturday but many notable motorcycles on display. Last time I was there Leo Paynes' Sportster was there. First unstreamlined motorcycle to top 200 mph. Leo was a local legend here in Cedar Rapids and I had the privilege to know him back when. He was a leader here in the HD culture of drag racing and Bonneville top speed attempts. Ray Elmore, the fellow that built his race motors put together the motor for my 1948 chopper. Leo and Ray were very involved in the design of the S&S fuel carburetors that dominated racing back then.
