Boston’s Black leadership calls on POC Mayor and Black Police Commissioner to appoint Special Superintendent to talk to Black community Login/Join

A 14 year old was killed in broad daylight a 15 year old shot with him, and a 91 year old city leader was stabbed multiple times walking her dog in one day, we need a Special Superintendent to deal with the Black Community on Police issues. Guess there couldn’t be any other issues but lack of this Special Superintendent causing this. Love liberal, leftist, Democratic cities, so equitable, diverse and inclusive, getting right to the heart of the matter.

Community leaders speak out after Civil Rights figure attacked, shooting death of teen

BOSTON (WHDH) - Community leaders gathered outside of Franklin Park Wednesday evening, calling for more action from city officials after a stretch of violence in Boston.

The group called on the police commissioner and mayor to adjust their approach to public safety after a violent past few weeks in the city, which included a 17-year-old being shot outside of a high school last week and the shooting death of a 14-year-old boy in Roxbury on Monday.

The recent streak of violence culminated in Jean McGuire, 91, being stabbed multiple times while walking her dog in Franklin Park on Tuesday night.

“Why is it that a 91-year-old woman cannot have the faith or trust in her community to just walk her dog?” Boston City Councilor Tania Fernandes Anderson said. “It’s unbelievable! And so I’m here to say to you, that we cannot take this any more.”

“We will not be at rest as a community until the person who committed this crime is brought to justice,” said Rev. Kevin Peterson of the New Democracy Coalition.

“We’re devastated by the trauma, that this community has been enduring for far too long,” Charles Yancey, a former Boston city councilor, said. “And Jean McGuire herself fought against this violence.”

The recent stretch of violence was also the leading topic of the Boston School Committee’s latest meeting.

“We must come together to end this senseless violence,” one committee member said. “Our schools and our parks must be safe spaces for these residents of all ages to grow and thrive.”

The speakers outside Franklin Park Wednesday called on the mayor to appoint a special superintendent of police, someone they hope can coordinate with the Black community in areas of Boston where the most violent crimes take place.

Those who had visited McGuire in the hospital shared that she was less concerned for herself, and more so thinking of the family who lost their 14-year-old boy in a shooting just a day before McGuire’s attack.

Everyone was relieved to know McGuire is in stable condition, but remained impassioned about a need for change.

“When a 14-year-old child is murdered, and a day later a 91-year-old grandmother is stabbed and assaulted, walking in the park, that is a tragic day in our community,” Randy Muhammad of the Muhammad Mosque said. “And we must stand up and do something different.”

soooo, they are demanding segregation?

I'm well aware that they are just stomping their feet & saying "We (someone else) must do something" while ignoring the real problem let alone the root causes, but do they even realize what they are demanding?

I'm pretty sure they aren't smart enough to realize what they're demanding.

Who lives in those "communities", and who's committing the crimes?

And IIRC, the current Superintendent of Police in Boston is Black.

Boston has a female Mayor who's of Chinese descent, a Black male police commissioner, a white lesbian for attorney general, and a 13-member city council where being heterosexual and white is to be in the minority. This is a town that has some of the leading institutions of higher education, no shortage of social assistance and educational outreach programs, has bent over backwards in its zeal to be 'inclusive' yet....this group of community 'leaders' wants a Special Superintendent appointed to speak to the black community?!? Like a king tells their subject what to do?

Sounds like a community problem, which in-turn is a cultural problem

Like what? Perhaps stop believing in the Democrat platform? Stop depending on welfare? Stop blaming external forces? Perhaps start having personal accountability? Start having morals and integrity? Start being productive and adding value to both family and society? Stop glamorizing thug life and start yearning for family values?

First, stand up and admit you have problem - not blaming others for your problems but that you have a problem of your own doing. Then you can think about doing something different.

Our Mayor WU is a Woke Communist, a real fruit cake.

The cops could solve this problem in a few months but the jails would need to 10X capacity. get caught with a gun serve a year, sell a gun, get 10 years. Pull a gun on a cop... well bye.

Right now it's catch and release on gun crime.

This is 100% black on black, gang/drug driven violence. The constant influx of illegals is fuel on the fire.

WU needs to be gone. badly. Maybe then the cops could take the gloves off.

Check, and double check!
I’m obviously the cause of all the crime here! I’m like the “Oggey-Boogey” man!

Wait wait wait.... I though the whole idea was that if we reduced the number of police, crime would reduce proportionately. Wasn't it the idea in these big cities that the presence of police were causing the crime?

Are they now saying that crime is happening and the police seem unable to stop it? Now we need another person directing the police to help them stop crimes? I'm confused... so confused.
