Now that I have a Linux Mint laptop as a backup to my Win10 Desktop, the issue of moving files between the systems is one I've started to explore.

Seems that media, more specifically thumb or flash drives, formatted in UDF or Universal Disk Format are readily recognized by Linux, Windows, and even Mac systems.

So I starting looking for a formatting utility program that would work to format flash drives for the purpose of sharing text, audio and video files between my Linux and Windows systems running LibreOffice, VLC, etc.

This as a much more convenient method for me than networking or other options.

No joy. Lots of techie multiple step command line / terminal stuff but no simple utility for either Windows or Linux. Unless I'm missing them... Frown

Any help / suggestions for a quick and dirty Windows or Linux USB flash drive formatting utility program that has the option for UDF?

My drives that need cross-compatibility are formatted in FAT32. Works fine.

I've never bothered with anything else in many years of using Windows, Linux, and OSX.

Here's another option:

Install Samba on your Mint.

Map whatever share you want on your Win10.
