'Unplanned' Actress Fires Back At Alyssa Milano's Attack On Georgia's Pro-Life Bill Ashley Bratcher attends 'Unplanned' Red Carpet Premiere on March 18, 2019 in Hollywood, California. Maury Phillips/Getty Images for 'Unplanned' Movie, LLC Star of the biopic "Unplanned," Ashley Bratcher responded to a letter written by abortion advocate Alyssa Milano to Georgia House Speaker David Ralston and Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp threatening to boycott the state if a proposed pro-life heartbeat bill passes. Milano slammed H.B. 481, the Living Infants Fairness and Equality (LIFE) Act, which bans abortions if a heartbeat is detected. As The Daily Wire reported, over fifty celebrities have signed the letter in solidarity. Responding on Deadline, Bratcher, who portrays pro-life advocate Abby Johnson in the film, says she is a "proud Georgian" and that she is "incredibly proud of my home state for taking a stand in the fight for life amidst backlash and dubious threats": For the latter part of a year I’ve watched as women I’ve admired, like you, spoke out in regards to women’s rights, more specifically women’s reproductive rights. With radical laws like the ones in New York and Vermont being passed, it’s more critical than ever that we are using our voices to fight for the rights of women. One problem, you’re forgetting about the rights of women within the womb. If feminism is all about equal rights, then where are her rights? She also criticized Milano for saying that the “state leaders are going down a divisive road once again, refighting culture wars and jeopardizing one of the state’s biggest sources of revenue.” Bratcher continued: Well Alyssa, let me make something very clear to you. In Georgia, we care just as much about being pro-life as being pro-film. We don’t believe in putting a price tag on the value of a human life. Our brave leaders have stepped up to say enough is enough, we will no longer sit idly by as innocent lives are taken by the thousands each day. If you fault Georgia for choosing to be morally correct over politically correct, then that says more of your personal agenda than the goal of our governor to protect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all. You claim that the HB481 “Heartbill Bill” would make Georgia the most regressive state in the country; I couldn’t disagree more. Abortion is so 1973. Welcome to 2019, a time in which medical advances preserve the life of babies born as early as 21 weeks. In case you didn’t know, that’s three weeks earlier than what most states in the U.S. consider “viable” in their abortion legislation. Bratcher also argues that women do not seek abortions because they feel "empowered," but because modern feminists claim women cannot be mothers and successful. She goes on to argue that Hollywood’s glamour has lost its appeal to Americans. "How sad it is that tax credits are a more important topic than the sanctity of human life," she concludes. "Mother to mother, I invite you to see my new movie, 'Unplanned.' Abby Johnson’s testimony changed my life. Who knows, maybe it could change yours too." "Unplanned" is based on the memoir by Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood employee who left the abortion organization and become a pro-life advocate. It opens in theaters on March 29th. https://www.dailywire.com/news...s-attack-jacob-airey "Some things are apparent. So called Pro-choice abortion advocates will one day be shown to be on the wrong side of history. Perhaps then they will scatter like the pro-slavery Dems and try to hang their atrocity around the necks of those who worked and sacrificed to abolish the atrocities. I tell you, Leftists/Dems have radicalized to evil. They are ripening in iniquity. We must suffer them now and wince at their damage, but one day they will get theirs... Yes, they have. But with the media and government schools indoctrinating people... I'm not so sure they will get theirs... at least not anytime soon. In the meantime, we must suffer fools like AOC and the entire cabal of leftists who will run against Trump in 2020. As for the movie, 'Unplanned', I saw it last night. It was worth seeing, but I know it won't be seen by many who need to see it. So it's kind of preaching to the choir but it has received some traction. "Some things are apparent. It's a good thing that people who are professional fake and live surrounded by an elite world of their peers are so involved in arguing critical issues that impact the common people. I for one am glad that two women, living in California, who've never faced this issue personally, have such strong and expert opinions on what the rest of us should do and think. To paraphrase comments a friend of mine made that illustrate the craziness of the times: In most states, a 16 year old girl can get an abortion without her parents’ consent or knowledge but can’t buy a ticket to this movie. Michael

This has happened before in recent history. People seeing a holocaust refused to accept the truth of it because they were advantaged somehow by inaction. Back then there were those who worked within their sphere of influence to expose the truth and save whom they could. We know them as heroic today. We know the perps as demons today. History is repeated here and those who advocate or facilitate this atrocity are as great a shame as those in history. You’re a lying dog-faced pony soldier

You heard it over and over again in that trailer..."Regardless whether you're pro-life or pro-choice you need to come see this movie". Unfortunately, the leftists who've been running education for decades now have instilled in young people that there is but one position on the topic, and they need not ever consider an opposing position. Nothing in this country will ever change until we get control of the educational system back, such that students are once again taught 'how' to think, not 'what' to think. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Here's a couple conundrums; First, if a person is considered dead when their heartbeat stops, why shouldn't it be the same way when the heartbeat is detected? And, if a drunk person hits a pregnant woman who's heading out for an abortion, and the baby dies as a result of the accident, why is the drunk charge with murder? Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it. It's a good point. Who cares what an actress thinks? However, when someone like Alyssa Milano comes out against something, it does draw attention to her view. I'm glad she's getting some push back from another actress. The Hollywood left has had far too much influence over 'popular culture', and therefore culture, for far too long. Here's a better one. Why are liberals (and a number of Repub's) more than willing to ship billions of US dollars to shit hole African countries to save children from starving in a place where they have no future, but are in lock step when it comes to killing perfectly viable unborn babies out of convenience in a country where every one of them has a chance to succeed? It's hypocrisy and insanity of the highest order. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. Every man should have several guns. Heartbeat can sometimes be detected at 6 weeks, when the fetus is about the size of a pomegranate seed, and the woman may not yet be certain she's even pregnant. Setting the spiritual arguments aside since we're talking about law, I grant that at the earliest stage, a fetus is a "human life" (an argument made by the pro-life side) in that it has human DNA and is alive, with potential and value. However, the way I look at it currently, at some difficult-to-identify point in development the fetus becomes a person, and it's persons (and their property) that laws should protect. Personhood is the key, for me. I can't find a non-spiritual way to call a newly fertilized egg a person, but I can find the logic to consider say, a 20-week old fetus a person based on its biological properties, and therefore imbued with the same legal rights as any other person. So, I'm in favor of a ban on abortions after X number of weeks, based on our best understanding of the likely development of the fetus, probably centered around the brain and nervous system in particular. I don't know the exact number of weeks it should be, but it seems somewhere around 20, from what I understand, and I'd be fine with making it a 1-2 weeks prior, to cover the margin of error of our understanding of brain development. I'm not a Dr., biologist, nor lawyer, but that's how I look at the matter currently.

I think a lot of people would find that reasonable. I think it's a question for the States as that definition may be decided differently in Missouri than in California. "Some things are apparent. Being famous, or having been famous in Ms. Milano’s case, doesn’t give one any greater or lesser sense of morality. That doesn’t mean famous people don’t have anything worthwhile to say, it just means their views have the same weight as everyone else’s. If you haven’t heard Jordan Peterson’s view on abortion it’s worth listening to, even if it’s just to hear someone rational discuss the issue. Generally speaking, he thinks the seemingly intractable nature of the abortion debate is due to our cultural schizophrenia when it comes to sex. According to the people on the left, sex is no big deal and everybody should have it when, how, and with whomever they choose. Unless of course someone makes an unwanted advance at someone else — then it’s such a big deal that they should be ejected from society. He doesn’t see how we can have it both ways, and I think he has a good point.

I am honestly impressed with Mike Lindell the MyPillow guy. When I first saw his commercials, I saw him as seedy and slimy - shows off his cross hanging around his neck, claims his pillow was awarded best pillow by some institute (which seemed fishy to me) only to find out the institute was one he founded. He later had to take out that endorsement from his commercials. But he certainly is putting where his mouth it as he's got top billing as Executive producer which means he put down a chunk of change for that title and to be in a cameo role as the central character in a scene near the end. "It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." OK this is, uh, interesting. Several people reporting when they "Follow" @UnplannedMovie on Twitter, they automatically unfollow. I just tested, and the same is happening to me. I can't stay in a "Following" state. I was able to Follow a different account, and remain following, no problem. Also the number of followers for the account is shedding numbers by the hundreds of thousands. I don't know if it's due to some SJW at Twitter intentionally doing this for the sake of censorship, or that SJW twotter users are just spamming twitter support with complaints about the page in order to get it automatically suspended pending review, or what, but it's maddening and sad. I find it really difficult to believe this is just a technical fluke.

Kind of interesting that the states are imbued with the right to decide whether or not to implement the death penalty for the most heinous among us, but abortion can only be executed at the federal level because wingnuts view it as a 'right'. The insanity and hypocrisy surrounding this issue makes any rational discussion or debate of it impossible. ----------------------------- Guns are awesome because they shoot solid lead freedom. ^^^Different states do have different laws regarding how late into pregnancy abortion is legal. I haven’t investigated how that’s possible in light of Roe v. Wade. I guess the case just established abortion couldn’t be completely outlawed...?

And here is a small part of the problem - hardly anyone actually understands the state of the law. The case that answers your question is PP v. Casey, which expanded Roe to legalize abortion to the point of "fetal viability". The problem with this reasoning (and it also applies to your argument in your first post, rusbro) is that the definition of human life - or at least human life worthy of legal protection - changes with technological advancement. For many reasons, I believe that life begins at conception. When we get to the point that a fertilized egg can be incubated and developed to the point of "birth" outside of a human womb, PP v. Casey (and Roe) will effectively be moot. So I ask - how can we tie the definition of human life to something so temporary as the current state of modern medical science? It's not rational. -Rob I predict that there will be many suggestions and statements about the law made here, and some of them will be spectacularly wrong. - jhe888 A=A
