It's been a hot minute since I've logged in. Since my last visit:

- I've acquired and/or carried 4 new guns: P320 X-five Legion (duty weapon for the last 5 years and about to be mandated to be replaced), Glock 21 (duty weapon before the P320 and after the P226), HK VP9SK (off-duty and CCW), Springfield 1911 (gift from my sergeant when he retired)

- Set foot on 2 new continents: South America and Australia

- Been as far east as I've ever been: Ephesus, Türkiye

- Been as far west as I've ever been: Katoomba, NSW, Australia

- Been as far north as I've ever been: Arctic Circle, rounding the Hornstrandir Peninsula, Iceland

- Been as far south as I've ever been: Dunedin, New Zealand

- Sent 3 awesome retired working dogs over the Rainbow Bridge

- Fell in love with German shorthaired pointers and have Riley 9F and Kona 2F

- Adopted a rescue German shepherd Gracie 7F

- Been saddled with a mostly-malinois heathen working dog, Cairo 2M

- Picked up a 2023 GX460 I absolutely love

- Lost my dad to cancer

So, catch me up. What have I missed?

Thanks, bud! You've got me all verklempt! I've been trying to improve my photography over the years. I'll drop a few momentarily.

As for the globetrotting, it's just the wife and I doing yearly cruises. I took a "What to do after retirement" class just to get credits toward my annual mandate, but ended up really learning useful ideas. Like travel NOW while you have your health. Lots of people plan to travel AFTER retirement, but don't consider their health my shit the bed.

Welcome back! Good to see that your avatar hasn't lost any enthusiasm for life.

Other than losing so many members to an early death, it's been pretty quiet.

Para has stomped out the miscreants, the locals pretty much follow the rules, we haven't had an epic flameout in some time, oh, and the SIG P320 is reported to go BOOM without warning.

That's kind of a big one.

Online forums are odd in that you may never meet folks in person, but when they're gone, you miss the interaction and familiarity.

Pour some Hoppe's No 9 on the block for those who've flown west.

Partly the P320 madness and partly to bathe in the wisdom of the SF hivemind about what to replace mine with.

Some very nice macro shots (among all the rest), but I’m particularly interested in the infrared work. The album indicated they were taken with a Canon Power Shot G11: true? Was it converted for IR only?

Yep. Bought it on Ebay for a few hundred bucks. Ran it a handful of times and realized the images don't come out of the camera like that. There's additional manipulation needed to get the finished product and my ADHD doesn't like that.

Rumors of my demise were greatly exaggerated. I recently took a shower, so no one should mistake me for deceased again for a while. At least by smell.

My wife takes a dim view of me trying to pick up women while we travel.
