Rome was such a tough guy until the table flipped out of the way then he was super sissy.

Rome was a smug prick and thought his interviewing style was hip, sharp and modern until his smartalec act got the best of him with Everett. Everett had a roller-coaster career and always under performed, all indications though he was a solid guy, who never had the breaks go his way. Rome had another controversial interview with the then NBA commissioner David Stern. Stern after getting irritated with Rome, pulled the lawyer trick by asking Rome, "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?"

Rome had to rebuild his reputation after getting canned for the Everett interview. He slowly grew his radio show to national syndication, then onto satellite. Got to hand it to him, he pulled in some big names for interviews. There was a chunk of time in the late-90's where he'd tour his show and it'd pull-in some large audiences. His "Have a Take & Don't Suck" guest call-in's have gotten pretty old and reveal the douchy-pathetic nature of sports fans.

I'd pretty much automatically change the channel when Jim Rome was on. He was always a no-talent douche. I'm not sure where he got the idea that he was a tough guy.

Douchebag. He's got a new show somewhere, never watched it, but listened to clips of his douchebagary.
