A friend has one of the few 74 Formulas with the 455 Super Duty engines. Documented, he’s had it since the early 90’s. I think it’s undergoing restoration at present.

^^^Mines 'undergoing restoration' currently as well...
Note the significant tire clearance in the wheel wells indicative of NO Drivetrain & NO Interior at present! The only reason my Formula is out of the garage in this pic from 10/22, is that I've needed that bay for working on other my car(s)/projects!

Here's my Son's 'First Fast Car'...
It spent 45 days in my Garage/Service Bay getting a few 'upgrades' while my Formula was cast out into the weather...We worship Horsepower in this family!

My first fast car was and still is a 2013 Subaru BRZ. So much fun to drive. 6 speed, 200 HP 2L 4 cylinder boxer engine. Only Subaru that's a rear-wheel drive (they wanted to save weight).
Stock image, but virtually identical to mine.
I hate offended people. They come in two flavours - huffy and whiny - and it's hard to know which is worst. The huffy ones are self-important, narcissistic authoritarians in love with the sound of their own booming disapproval, while the whiny, sparrowlike ones are so annoying and sickly and ill-equipped for life on Earth you just want to smack them round the head until they stop crying and grow up. - Charlie Brooker

My first fastish car was a 2006 Mazda RX-8. That rotary engine would rev for weeks... It was fast enough for me but not by today's standards.
I currently have a 2010 Porsche 911 Carrera. Base model is fast enough for me. But I am itching for a new GT3 and if my February bonus is good enough, the local Porsche dealer will get a visit.
Do, Or do not. There is no try.

Jim, I've only had my car for a month. This is a daily driver so I'm going to keep it mild. It will receive some suspension mods and little else.

My first fast car, and 2nd Pontiac, was a '67 Firebird 400 4 speed convertible. Bought new in '67 and sold in '71 (mistake). Had it mostly in Los Angeles... Chevron Premium: $0.25/gal.! Not my picture but identical to mine.

Might want to get that ball rolling sooner than later. Unless you can find a GT3 in dealer stock. Mod on another forum I'm on has had a 911 on orderaince 22, now converted to a 23. He switched from a 911 S to the new 911 T. Still waiting on his allocation.

My first car - a 1967 Cougar. My dad was really into cars and could hardly wait for an excuse to buy another. Did most of my supervised driving before my license test in his 1974 Ranchero.

My first fast car was a 1969 GTO. It was built to be a drag car: drum brakes all around, no power steering, no console, 4 speed with positraction, painted steel wheels with dog dish hub caps and blackwall tires. It looked intimidating and I didn't lose too many stop light drags.
My first new fast car was a 1989 VW GLI. 16 valve 4 cylinder 5 speed with Recaro seats, BBS wheels painted body color and an awesome dark blue paint job that had a purple cast in direct sunlight. Unfortunately I lost custody of it but she got the payment book that went with it so not a bad deal.
Today I can amuse myself with a F-150 5.0 4WD. Quick for a truck but $4 gas has lightened my right foot considerably.

I put a deposit on a 911S in July 2021. Still waiting and dealer has no idea on how long it will take. It would have to be a 2023 at this point. I wanted an S in order to get the manual, not a big fan of the T model even though it will have the option of a manual.
May be moot as not sure I can afford the car anymore .

The very first car I ever bought was a 1985 Trans Am and I have been fortunate to have several fast cars since then. This is the current ones.

In 2000 I bought a Saab Vigen. Came w/ a couple of days at Road Atlanta w/ Panoz Racing. Some of the best fun I’ve ever had; won some autocross events and played golf on the third day at the Château. That weekend planted the seeds of going to the track.
I don’t have a photo immediately handy, but I’ll go look… That was a fun car, especially at altitude ~7500’. Was Monte Carlo Yellow, aka Cop Magnet Yellow.
2.3l 4 banger w a big 20 lb boost Mitsubishi blower. 32 mpg normal, 17 heavy foot.
At the beginning of the last recession, I picked this used 13k miles turbo up… a friend at IDPA/IPSC knew I was genetically competitive and suggested the local track.
My daily driver/grocery getter. Many years ago I was putting groceries under the front bonnet and a father with a five-year-old son had to walk over because the kid wanted to know why I was feeding my engine groceries. LOL. Ended up popping the back hatch to show him where the motor was…
ECU tune to 550 hp with a custom Belgium 100 cell cat exhaust, GT3 RS clutch, single mass flywheel. (Clutch is so sensitive that I doubt anyone could steal it by driving it away … lol)

While the 996 might be my least favorite, aesthetically, I'd have a hard time turning one down. Probably one of the 'cheaper' gen 911s you can get into nowadays.

Yeah - 996 was beat bad with an u g l y stick.
But I sit on the inside and don’t see those fucked up headlights.
That car above is an 996 TT X50; factory option with larger K24 twin turbos and GT2 intercoolers.
Those are 305s on the rear.
