I only bought them because of the 25% mil discount. I bought them direct from Viktos. Honestly I think the retail price is outrageous, even with the discount I was kind of appalled. lol. They are easily some of the best thought out and comfortable pants of this style I have ever worn. After trying them for a couple weeks I threw out every one of my 5.11 pants. Most overrated pant of all time.

I have read other reviews of their shoes that mimic your experience though. The pants get better reviews for the most part. We shall see.

Anyone with experience using First Tactical V2 Core?

They look more like some cargo pants then full blown tac pants.

Interesting that you can even sell your used clothes on their site.
I am contemplating grabbing the $80 pair

I wanted to like the Kuhl pants. I really liked the fit and flexibility the Ryder offered for a "ruggedly durable go anywhere" pair of pants. Reality, they sucked and wore out terribly fast, like months fast. Customer service was terrible. "Yea, we didn't intend for you to move to the middle of nowhere and use them daily".

The longest lasting best do it all pants I have found are Tractor Supply's house brand Ridgecut Relaxed Fit . Only two colors is kind of limiting, but the have held up excellent to ranch life. Nice big pockets front & rear, double fabric pleated knees, plenty of crotch space, cool in the summer, and are 1/2 the price of many of the "in" brands on the market.

First Tactical is a brand that was started by the guy who purchased Royal Robbins, then spun-off 5.11 into its own brand (named after its popular cargo pant) after selling off Royal.

They're going after the same market as 5.11, mass market tactical business. Prices are very competitive, cut and design is pretty basic and straight forward; if you're of a husky build, you'll do fine, if you're leaner more athletic, you'll likely find the pants to appear dumpy on you. Materials aren't bad, colors so far have stayed true on the pants I have, remains to be seen how they do over the next decade.

5.11 Apex

I wear these daily as they look kinda like regular kakais. And they have a degree of water repel to them as well.

Nothing about those 5.11 look like regular khakis. They have cargo pockets, weird outside sown pockets, zippers, mesh fabric, and little sewed areas to gain flexibility. I’m glad you like them, I’m sure they are quality, but if you think they look like regular khakis you are dreaming. Lol. Nothing 5.11 makes doesn’t look like you are going to the range or are a park ranger.

I like Duluth Ballroom khaki pants. They have a discrete thigh pocket. The material is very heavy cotton. The slim version is still quite roomy and I’m a big guy.

KevinCW will be of no help. Razz

But, consider Eddie Bauer Ranier pants on the eddiebaueroutlet site. On sale bow and I know a few guys that swear by them. A similar pant is also on their regular page too not sure of the review on it but it is twice or more the price.

I wanted to give a little update on this.

I purchased some pants to try.
CQR mens outdoor fast drying tactical pants
CQR mens tactical pants from Amazon
First Defense V2 pants
Vertx Delta stretch LT
5.11 fast tac cargo pants
Truspec 24-7 ascent pants
kuhl renegade or rider something or other.

The CQR pants felt like I was wearing plastic, and the truspec ascent was not much better in my opinion. The Kuhl was just crazy. Not really an EDC type of pant and I looked like I was trying to advertise my quad riding skills. These all got returned.

I purchased two more pairs of the first defense v2, these are my favorite right now. I'm going to wear these for a while and try the first defense A2 when I need another pair. There is something about the fabric on the first defense that feels and looks better than some of the others, the mini ripstop I think. Also when I lift the cargo pocket flap it stays up and access to 4 p365 mags is easy although I'm only usually carrying two and a light. The vertx also looks good but a little more streetwear type of style than pants. The 5.11 is a bit more simple than the other two but still enough to carry my mags and light without overdoing zippers and stuff.

Just wanted to thank you all for the suggestions and let you know how I made out.

Favorable endorsement to first defense if anyone cares.

I have the opposite problem. I need 36" inseam, and many pants offer 34" as the longest.

I like my Truewerk pants. About $80 a pair. I have had them about a year. I know some of the things I have done with these pants where they should have ripped but didnt.

I know you did not like the Kuhl, but I'll send an endorsement on the Radikl pant. Bought these by mistake and they are now my favorite pant! One downside, the side seams remind me of my tuxedo pant, they have some stretchy material which I'm not crazy about, but the comfort makes me forgo this nitpick.
