I've been looking at picking up a side by side for a few months and a couple weeks ago my dad told me he would sell me his. He rarely used it and said to come pick it up. By never used it, I'm talking he bought the thing new in 2011 and here we are 12ish years later and it only has a 140 miles and 30 or so hours on the motor. He always took care of it and only ever ran AV gas through it. That was a big worry for me when looking at used rigs is that people tend to beat the piss out of them so I jumped at the chance.

Spent some time bringing it back to life. Changed the oil/air filter, greased up the stuff that needed grease, and cleaned it up. It already had Fox 2.0 shocks and Beard 5 point harnesses along with a winch, doors, bumpers and roof. Replaced a few rubber pieces that had seen better days and now I'm on to making a few more mods of my own beyond what he did to it. It's pretty funny hitting the big speed bumps in the neighborhood, soaks it up like nothings there. Something with this many warning labels HAS to be fun.

Swapped out the headlight bulbs for LED's and mounted an extinguisher. Replaced the steering wheel, needed to pull the stock one anyway as Polaris from the factory had it off center. That was a bit of an adventure. For whatever reason Polaris didn't put screw holes to be able to thread a puller, so out came some axel straps and a come along Big Grin Replaced the tires/wheels with 28" BFG KM3's. The old original tires weren't in great shape and the left rear had started to dry rot. Ordered a windscreen as well. She's about ready to rock. It's not the current monsters that are available today but I can't wait to hit the trails. Any other SxS owners on the forum? I'd love to see em.

Next step, get rid of those too many lawyers stickers! always the first thing I do!
I cant believe people leave them on, and then give me the deer in headlight look when I give them crap.

Every winter when I'm out plowing, I swear I'm going to trade the 4-wheeler in on a side-by-side with an enclosed cab. Tomorrow morning when I'm plowing at -20F I'll be saying the same thing. One of these years.

That's a nicely preserved buggy, wheels and tires look right for it. If you don't have a rivet nut tool, they make it handy for hanging things (light pods, speakers) off the rops/roof bars.

Looks like a blast.
My dad is on his 3rd Mule [single bench, Pro Ranch Edition, Trans 2 row]
Mighty handy down at our ranch, much easier to get around than a truck.

I've got little use for one, and nowhere to keep it, but it would be fun sometimes & they can be made street legal here in TX. Would make the local school run easier.

My wife and I love riding. We had a 2017 RXR S1000 and now have a General RC Edition. We like getting out and seeing animals and the change of seasons. I don’t push it at all. They are a lot of fun, but don’t underestimate their ability to hurt or kill you.

^ My brother's friend was lucky to roll a Rhino is soft soil. It was an early one before doors were mandated on them, it rolled onto his leg, but the soft ground kept it from snapping it.

Andy that's a nice looking, well accessorized RZR, and it looks like you've got it all set to explore some trails.

I have a couple SXS's but nothing sporty like your RZR. They're legal to drive on dirt roads (which there are many) as well as paved roads w/o a center line here, no license or registration is required, so you see a lot of 'em running around here. I mostly use mine here running around the property.

Honda Pioneer 520 is 50" wide like your RZR so it's pretty handy in the woods.

I use both for chores but the Mule Pro MX is a little roomier at 60" wide with nicer suspension and larger bed.

And of course Sophie loves to ride along, this is the road I live on heading back up to the driveway.

Good looking rigs fellas!

Moose, its on the list just haven't gotten around to it. I know it's going to be a pain.

ridewv, its actually the "S" model so its a 60"

Love Sophie riding along. My parents still have a Ranger on the ranch and their Aussie is always riding in the middle seat. She refuses to be left behind if that thing is going out. They actually ended up putting rubber on the back bed of the ATV's as well because she likes to ride those too Cool

Ok thanks, I was only aware of 50" wide RZR's.

Yeah dogs love riding along!

Not to worry. I'm a pretty cautious guy and well know my limitations. This SXS has one thing in common with my tractor...if you don't show some good common sense, they can both kill you in an instant.

When we first moved to Missouri, the wife and I owned a restaurant for a few years and got to know a husband of one of our cooks. Super nice kid probably in his late 20's. He was killed on a 4 wheeler while riding down a creek bed. Sheriff's department said it looked like he was trying to ride out of the creek by going up a side bank. It flipped over on him and he drowned in less than a foot of water.

We'll be fine then because I am too. Having a roll cage SXS's tend to be a lot safer than an ATV.
Speaking of ATV's, last week I was speaking with the sales manager of the local power sport store that sells Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and he said they now sell about 20 SXS's to 1 ATV.

A few years ago I bought a 2014 electric Bad Boy Buggy Instinct for cheap. 72 volts and it would drive faster than I cared to go, but the batteries were shot. I nursed it along until a year later when the proprietary controller quit with no replacements available. I finally found a guy 4 hours south who was able to convert it to 48 volts including new electric motor, standard Curtis controller and a huge lithium battery. Now I have a reliable and incredibly quiet hunting machine that's fun to drive around the ranch at night while hunting hogs and predators. The dump bed is also handy for carrying tools for chores around the place.

Actually....I just sold ours.

Here was my last trip this summer in it:

We're going back to a Jeep. Picked up a decent '89 YJ.

Sold the Ranger for $26,500 and I'm into this YJ for a bit under $6,500 including the 5 new tires I just put on it.

Very nice ride! They are amazing.

I had never been around one until a few years ago. My neighbor and good friend had a two seater. They take it to Colorado several times a year. He also uses it on his 300 acr deer lease.

He has taken me out several times and around here in our little community.

They get it quick an absorb the terrain like nothing i have been around.

I mounted several led light bars and have done the maintenance on it several times.

His wife decided he needed a new 4 seater so her older daughter and the new grandson could go with them on trips.

Both were Can Ams. Its crazy how expensive they are and the options of upgrades and mods you can do to them are endless.

It's pretty amazing , these things in tiny town.
They are legal to dive on the streets with a dozen requirements.

One 65 y.o. guy sold his Harley D. To obtain one , then added three thousand dollars in gadgets.

Another city fella bought one instead of a second car,
He runs his kids around to school, the store in it rain, cold or shine.

Another lady runs a day care,
She zips around town with six kids on it (one on her lap )

They don't have to be in car seats , for some reason.

When he finally sold his bass boat, Larry got a top of the line gator to go a half mile up to the post office, oh and he gets lunch twice a week.
