Any opinions or reviews on these? Expensive but made in USA. Hoodies seem to always be sold out of most sizes, not so for the jacket.

I have the Ranger hoodie, I wear it all the time, it’s very warm comfortable and durable, in my opinion it’s well worth the $$$.

I have a few things from TAD. Have never had a ranger jacket but I generally give them a thumbs up and the ranger jackets are one of their more popular items so I am assuming it is good to go.

Your probably paying a slightly higher premium for the design and styling but it’s good stuff that is generally well designed and thought out. I usually compare them to north face, Arcteryx, mountain hardware stuff. They probably run about the saw retail, but you can find that stuff on sale at REI etc.

If you like it and can handle the price I say go for it.

PS I really want a praetorian hoodie!!!

I own and like:
Intercept jeans (love then)
Recon shorts in AC material, (love then but they did develop a small tear somewhat quickly but the AC material is meant to be light, fast drying and water resistant)
Axiom backpack (love it)
Tradecraft shirt (like it, quality is fine style is o my alright for me)

Good Grief. Just looked at their website. No way can I pay those prices. Might be quality goods, but I can buy similar items from LL Bean or even Duluth Trading Company four times over.

I have a Propper BA Softshell tactical jacket. I got it on sale from Tacticalgear.com for 50 bucks. Works fine.
TAD is outrageously overpriced.
If I want to spend that kind of $$$, I would look at SORD or Arc'terx LEAF.

I’m not gonna say LL bean won’t do what you need it to. But TAD is certainly nicer stuff. Just look at the material. Just like everything else, the last 20% of performance, styling and quality is the most expensive!!!

Polar tech wind pro has some signifigsnt thermal advantages in outdoor environments that LL Bean fleece does not. Worth it....maybe not. But it’s not apples to apple

It's good gear, with a unique combination of features, but definitely pricey.

Archerman, Amurr & 46and2, do you have any idea on sizing? The largest is XXXL and that’s hit and miss with me.

They're more slim fit than not, at least in size L.

Agreed it tends to run more athletic cut, long and slim. Honestly being 6’6” and quite trim it’s one reason I like them. It fits me well. I would say it’s pretty true to size. If you are “wider” you might want to size up but length will not be an issue.

A $235 hoodie would have to simultaneously display my GPS coordinates, play my favorite music and jerk me off to merit that price.

When it comes to "tactical boutique" brands like TAD or Arc'terx, I'd happily wear their stuff if it was given to me, but there ain't no way in hell I'm paying those prices.

Man, it's a trip. I agree they're priced beyond the actual utility, as are hordes of things in life. But it's an incredibly well thought out hoodie, literally feature rich for people who carry shit around, active, in the elements, and they're made very well and will last years.

What's an extra $150, once, over 10+ years... especially if you live in Hoodie climates.

I only have one, and it's the only thing I own by them, and it's the most "tactical" garment I own, but it's less mall ninja to others than carrying around a maxpedition bag or something, it's indiscernible from popular fancy outdoor brands, isn't "gun wear", etc.

I saw one in person once before buying mine, and was duly impressed, which I've now had for 7yrs, maybe 8, and it has tons of life left. Catching one in your size is a pain in the ass, and most of the fans of their gear are too Oper8or for my tastes, but good gear is good gear.

(I'm 6ft, 195-ish, lean, and the Large fits me well)

Lots of poor understanding here with regards to pricing and the alternative.

TAD is a gtg company, a US brand that has been serving the LE and tactical market for 15+ years. Unlike most outdoor brands, they have no qualms about supporting the warfighter and displaying imagery that would make most outdoor brand's marketing/PR people freak-out. They are not a big national brand, with print catalogs, clever advertising and a polished-up marketing department unlike some of the mentioned brands. Sure you can get similar items from any number of outdoor brands BUT, it's gonna be made in Asia and doesn't have the features that TAD does. Sure Arc'Teryx LEAF exists with similar stuff but, they're a much larger, global brand, chasing govt. contracts, buying 100x the raw goods, with over 20+ people just working on LEAF, not wholesale. TAD as an entire company is less than 10, they don't buy nearly the amount of raw materials like the big guys thus their pricing is much higher and they have to wait in-line behind other brands to get their products made. The big guys place their orders 7-8 months in-advance with preseason orders placed.

If all you want is some performance, fit, a few pockets and a hood...there's plenty of options at Kohls, Costco, all the way up to Arc'Teryx and Kjus. TAD is a small brand, living behind enemy lines, pissing off the local hipsters, having their stuff made in North America.

That Ranger Hoodie looks a lot like my Shoremans fleece from Duluth Trading. I have no problem paying extra money for quality especially if it's made here in the U.S.

Any clothing or any textiles for that matter that are made in the US are pretty much an extinct species.

One of the saddest sites I've seen was the destruction of the Cannon textile mill in Kannapolis NC as I was passing through there some years ago. The mill site was enormous and about half gone when I went through.

I'll take two.

Sadly, my TAD hoodie did NOT include this feature.
