sigspecopsI'm having a tough time deciding if I'll vote for Abbott in the primary. The lockdowns and masks mandates really pissed me off. He's just too driven by the political winds.

I said it earlier on, you can't please everyone on every detail. When those mandates where popular they where driven by the left and the quack Fauci. Nearly all states complied in the early stages. If you'll remember, Texas was one of the first states to jettison those restrictions, and was severally criticized by the left wing media. And Abbott stood strong and proved he was right when covid cases didn't sky rocket as the left predicted.
Hey the guy's not perfect, but people have short memories. Remember Ann Richards? Want that crazy kind of stuff again.

NavyGuy, you are absolutely right, Abbott caught alot of flak from the media and Biden administration for "being so reckless and dangerous" for pulling the stupid mask mandate so early!! He saved Texas businesses early last year as a result. I see no reason to vote him out for that.
I voted early on Monday the 14th. I showed my ID, voted using the new electronic/paper hard copy system for Abbott, Patrick and AG Paxton, ... . They have all been supportive of 2A and are not afraid to tell Biden where he can go.
Note all are supported by Trump too! nuff said for me.

BGULLAnother vote here for Abbot. I’d prefer Guzman in the AG race but I don’t think any of the challengers have enough traction to win the primary or force a runoff.
On the Dem side: Beto has done a full 360°, back to the “weapons of war” schtick.

I would like to see Guzman win. While she is running on a "Fuck Biden" platform, which isn't super-relevant to the attorney general, or at least not relevant compared to the day-to-day duties of the attorney general, maybe she would knock some sense into the whole child support collection system and the network of Assistant Attorneys General who do child support work and CPS work in the state. That system is a damn mess, and Guzman's background is in family law.
I don't know how good her chances are in the primary.

I like what Guzman says too but there are some good ones up for AG - Goemert has always been great and Paxton is supported by Trump.

Update from the Dallas Morning News today:
https://www.dallasnews.com/new...rvative-credentials/Abbott gets through his primary. Paxton apparently headed for a runoff, opponent TBD, George P. Bush (son of Jeb!), Louie Gohmert, or Eva Guzman. Still prefer Guzman, but can handle Gohmert, then another Bush....

flashguyTexas is a good place to live, with handling of COVID in the top 2. The border is receiving lots of attention(no thanks to Biden), and the economy is doing OK. I am satisfied with the current Administration and see no need to change it (now). Some of the challengers are very good, and if on the ballot in November I would vote for them.
I've now lived in Dallas for 42 years, exactly half my life. I love my adopted state and want it to remain a conservative Red state. I'm not easy to convince with words--I look for deeds. Texas is doing well and I see no need to change horses in midstream.

+1
Early voted today, and voted for the current Gov, Lt Gov, AG, Comptroller, Ag Comish, and RR comish.
My two favorite parts of voting today were voting against:
Dan Crenshaw. I used to like him, but it appears the swamp has gotten to him and he's a RINO. Martin Etwop is running against him and I liked everything I could find on Etwop (e.g. he is an African American who is against CRT).
another George Bush (Jeb's son, George P). The last thing this state/country needs is another Bush working his way up the ladder.

And I have to applaud the man and give him credit that he pretty much told Lena Hidalgo to eat a bag of penises. She's just about as intelligent as AOC and has ZERO business being in the position she is in. I could find a higher IQ out of a turd I dug outta the cat box...

MRBTXThese are shots from 2020 at the main Austin police station on I-35@7th St. when protestors blocked traffic on the interstate and were attempting to destroy the station.
It was from this group of APD officers that Dem DA Jose Garza indicted 19 for various BS charges. Also defending the building were DPS and TCSO. To my knowledge, none of the troopers or deputies were charged with anything. Only the city cops.

https://gov.texas.gov/news/pos...-department-officersGovernor Abbott Issues Statement In Support Of Austin Police Department Officers
February 23, 2022 | Austin, Texas | Press Release
Governor Greg Abbott today issued a statement of support for the officers of the Austin Police Department:
"Last year, Austin set an all-time record for the number of murders. It comes as no surprise that murders increased after Austin decreased funding for law enforcement. In Texas, we do not defund and denigrate our law enforcement officers. Instead we support them for risking their own lives and safety to protect our communities from people who endanger and attack our communities. In 2020, Texas experienced violent protests that wreaked havoc on our cities. In Austin, law enforcement officers defended the state Capitol from criminal assault, protected the Austin Police Department headquarters from being overrun, cleared the interstate from being shut down, and disrupted criminal activity in areas across the city. Many officers were physically attacked while protecting Austin. Those officers should be praised for their efforts, not prosecuted. Time will tell whether the accusations against the courageous Austin police officers is a political sham. Time will also tell whether I, as Governor, must take action to exonerate any police officer unjustly prosecuted."

I'd say he's been successfully converting CO2 into O2, but then again, someone probably had to give him instructions. As my sage mother would say, "About as useful as owl shit."
