Sooo, any chance the incident resulted in any long running family jokes/ribbing inferring 'you've got a screw loose' or maybe lots of laughter while reminiscing at family gatherings, 'remember the time...'

While I loved robots when I was little, para's experience and the bean and pearl stories make me totally recall a particular Arnold moment.

And the suction-cup arrows story reminded me of the time my cousins visited and played cops and robbers with real, loaded BB guns. I cleared out and they got some good hits on each other and some good welts (fortunately, none one shot an eye out).

Great thread!

Well I never stuck a screw up my nose; however, I did bring my mother a large large, still alive scorpion impaled on a screwdriver.

Is that a pun I detect there, Sir?

I remember well the day I decided to sneak my father's favorite bass plug out of the house to play with it in the creek. In my wisdom, I decided to gingerly put it in my front jeans pocket to hide it.

Double sets of treble hooks on front and back - what could go wrong? Except those hooks were slowly invading the territory reserved for my future family jewels! (I believe that might have been when my mom commented about God looking out after fools and little children, which she said gave me double protection.)

Anyway, she extracted the hooks with scissors and a razer blade, the plug survived intact, but that jeans pocket was fit for no other use than pocket pool, but I was a tad too young to even reap that reward.

I was a big fan of Lost in Space...
Especially the Robot. That does not compute.

The dumbest things I did usually involved a bicycle.

Come to think of it, that series is probably the reason we were playing "robots" that day. Lost in Space was in its second or third season at the time.

Maybe even "Forbidden Planet", 1956 ?

One of my favorite classic science fiction films, still good even today.

No, Lost in Space was almost certainly the reason why. Though Forbidden Planet was the first time Robby the Robot appeared, it wasn't the first place I saw him. He actually showed up in Lost in Space. Irwin Allen was always looking for cool props to put into the show.

Here's Robby the Robot in Lost in Space, season 1

Same episode, showing Robby with the series' B-9 robot. "B-9" = "Benign", as in "non-threatening", get it?

There’s a classic sideshow act called “the Human Blockhead” in which the performer hammers most of a five or six inch nail into their nose (straight back, not up).

There’s not actually a trick or fakery involved, most people just don’t realize how big the nasal cavity is.
