New San Francisco Initiative to Pay Individuals $300/month Not to Shoot Others - Not a parody

If that means I'm calling it a crock of shit, you're correct. Furthermore, everyone involved with this crock of shit knows it's a crock of shit, and that includes the I'll-take-your-money-and-still-commit-violent-crimes thugs.
What a joke

I wonder who it was that pulled the trigger on this policy? They should receive volleys of praise. Its kind of a scattergun approach, though. Many people will likely recoil from it.

And the thieving of someone else’s property valued at less than $950 is only a misdemeanor, that is is the DA actually decides to peruse charges (if there’s actually an arrest) and prosecute.
The occurrences of any such repetitive thieving does not count cumulatively against the offender.
It’s all so ridiculously, PROGRESSIVE.

San Francisco is a bit cryptic about the 12 high risk groups
Understanding Serious Violence in San Francisco 2017-2020
the above is powerpoint presentation
"The average age of victims and suspects of homicides in San Francisco is 37 years old; 70% have previously been arrested and those individuals averaged 15 prior arrests at the time of the homicide. "
"67% of homicide victims and suspects and 85% of shooting victims and suspects are Black and Latino men, while they comprise less than 10% of the city’s population."
Homicide suspects (age): 3% 17 and under 34% 18-24 22% 24-34 24% 35-44 17% 45 and older
Homicide suspect race 13% white 47% black 27% hispanic 7% asian 6% other
12 high risk social networks (groups) are involved in the majority of gun violence in San Francisco
Those at the highest risk of gun violence in San Francisco are primarily 18-35, Black and Latino men with extensive justice system histories (13-15 prior arrests); and social connections to these groups and conflicts.
Continuing to reduce retaliation shootings requires sustained focus within SFPD on this violence dynamic.
xxxxxxxxx
sounds like the biggest homicide problem in San Fran is from black and hispanic gangs (aka "social networks")

Christ on a bicycle, who thinks this shit up?
How about this. A round robin tournament among the gangs. Take them to a police training facility. Give them handguns, rifles and ammo. Let them shoot it out among themselves. Who ever wins, gets an all expense paid vacation to Pelican Bay.

Jesus we really are idiocracy.
Same for me. Hell I’ve never even threatened to shoot anyone. We get a bonus for that, right?

Very few, if any, thugs turn around. And, the ones which do, were probably only marginally thugs.
I realize it happens - AFAIK, mostly with religious experiences, and the urban conmen posing as preachers* won't help anything.
*They certainly are not all conmen, but there is a definite, and significant, percentage of urban churches, which are for-profit entities.
Addressing the real "root cause" would involve aggressively taking children from bad homes, say before the age of 2, and no-cost adoptions.
Once a thug is prominent enough for the police to know about him, for this program, he's statistically done, for all secular purposes.

So, if I move out there and start shooting people, will the city arrest me or just give me $300 a week to stop?

What kind of algorithm or profiling did they use to pick the top 10 candidates for the program?
When the police label the top 10 and target them to prevent crime it’s somehow racist and illegal.

Yeah, it's gotta come from within. Alcoholics and drug addicts, for example, have to hit (what they consider to be) rock bottom in order to make the decision to change.

"Root cause"?
If you want to address that, you need contraception and sterilization, then give it a generation.
Anything short of that would be pointless.

hey, if you get a job and go to school, you can get an extra $200/month on top of the $300. $500 month for not shooting people and being basically responsible? I've been doing that for 20 years....where's my back-pay?

Who? People with access to YOUR MONEY!
They figure "It's Government money, it doesn't belong to anyone"
I wonder how much I can get for wiping my ass? I mean, it's what you're supposed to do, right? Like "Not shoot people".
Is this a "prorated" program? So $300 is the max amount for not shooting anyone, is it like $250 for not beating the shit out of people? $275 for not raping anyone? $200 for not sticking anyone up? $50 for not committing traffic violations?

Maybe they can pay them $300 a month, and also isolate them. To maximize participation. Maybe an island in the middle of San Francisco Bay...you know to MAKE SURE they CANT STOP participating in this life changing mentorship.
Either way, lets watch this play out. I think its a childishly stupid idea, but I also don't live there. If they demand federal funds...then im back to ask questions...

Define "to not be involved in shootings" What exactly does 'involved' mean in this application?
No knowledge or incitement?
No ordering?
No trigger pulling?
Not getting convicted?
Pronoun: His Royal Highness and benevolent Majesty of all he surveys

I'd take a little of that action especially if it's retroactive. Age 70 and haven't shot anyone yet should get a big lump sum.

Yep, can I sign up living out of state? I'll agree to sign an agreement promising I won't travel to California and shoot anyone while there.
