Its just something I always wanted to complete with a group of friends. I've heard people who've done it say the ocean was like glass, while others claimed 3 to 4 foot swells and utter misery. You're not missing anything really, until you get there. The closest island is Bimini (48 nautical miles), and you're crossing the gulf stream and it tends to be rough water. There's nothing to see except blue water until you get to Bimini.

Then get it done.......Summer time is when the water is generally much calmer. I've crossed when it was as flat as a lake......many times around 2' seas.....many times in the winter 4-5' seas and as much as 10' seas.
