Can I get some help with the use of Dropbox on my iPad? Login/Join

Recently I've joined a group of guitar players/singers who get together to jam every Saturday. It's fun. They have a collection of over 9000 songs (believe it or not!) that most play from on their tablets. The files are said to be "online files". I'm told they take up less than the 2G free Dropbox limit.

I've had Dropbox for years, but never really used it. Downloaded the app onto my iPad and accepted the invitation to their group. The group shows, but it didn't download any data. When I click that group, I get a pop up wanting me to upgrade my capacity, though I don't need it.

Any suggestions on how to get this to work? I thought maybe delete the app and re-install.

Thanks.

Sorry, I can't help you, but if it is any consolation, Dropbox doesn't work for me either. Instead, when I try to use it, I get that "upgrade to paid" ad. I think DB has intentionally crippled their free tier so as to drive more people to a subscription.

As a bonus, they have a very checkered reputation for poor security, and abysmal customer service. With very slow sync to boot. This slow sync may be what is keeping you from seeing the files, give it a couple of weeks (not kidding).

I understand that your group is already locked into their box, but there are dozens of other cloud file sharing providers out there, many of them with a quite generous free tier.

architect, thanks for the reply. That doesn't sound very encouraging. Despite Dropbox not being good, apparently it's better with android based on the groups use of it.

I'll try to struggle through and hope I can get it to work some anyway. I have the iPad and not crazy about the idea of getting another tablet just for the sake of this.
