Looking to design images for a website and also designs for product labels. It's sold by subscription for $263 for a year of $23/month. Not really trying to have a subscription. I'm also not looking to get something too complicated but also don't want to pay a freelancer on a site such as Fiverr and wait days for changes. What alternatives are there to Adobe Illustrator? _____________

I'm not an artist but have heard good things about AFFINITY DESIGNER: https://affinity.serif.com/en-us/designer/ No monthly fee, you can get it for $70 ...let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one. I hate being forced into a subscription. It is why I have quit upgrading my Corel Suite. They only do subscriptions and no more perpetual.

This may not be an answer for you, but I use Photoshop and Illustrator enough and got the subscription to the entire Adobe CC setup. Also use Acrobat and occasionally Audition and Premiere. BUT, they have offered a deal for new customers every year at a reduced monthly rate. (Near Black Friday.) When renewal time comes, I get online with billing chat support, and I am VERY nice about asking if I can have the same deal they are offering. Every year for the past 10 or so, they have provided me the reduced rate. I know what you are trying to do (I have been there, with exactly the same goals). This is rally a task for professionals. Being a retired software engineer / developer and teacher, I have an extensive background in sophisticated computer applications. I tried to "DIY" and wound up blowing an incredible amount of time. There at least one SIGforum member who does this stuff for a living*, you might want to touch base with him. My neighbor is a graphic designer; if you want, I can put you in touch with her -- there is value in dealing with somebody with whom you can meet face tot face, when needed. If you really, REALLY, want to DIY, there is some highly regarded open source software for this: https://www.gimp.org The Free & Open Source Image Editor This is the official website of the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). GIMP is a cross-platform image editor available for GNU/Linux, macOS, Windows and more operating systems. It is free software, you can change its source code and distribute your changes. Whether you are a graphic designer, photographer, illustrator, or scientist, GIMP provides you with sophisticated tools to get your job done. You can further enhance your productivity with GIMP thanks to many customization options and 3rd party plugins. *EDIT: I see that steve495 posted in this thread while I was typing. He might be able to do the job for you. הרחפת שלי מלאה בצלופחים

Folks, read the terms of service sometime. It will reveal that Adobe reserves the right to examine every image you work on for "illegal" activities. Take some innocent pics of your child or grandchild and you may end up in Court. At some point take pics of your firearms collection and you might face seizure because the Demoncrats passed a law that the display of firearms images is illegal and subjects the maker of that image to immediate seizure. I will also note that if you don't specifically opt out Adobe reserves the right to copy your images to use as baseline images in their AI image generating apps. Basically Adobe uses AI to examine every image you load into their software. If you are comfortable with that then keep using it. If you are not, then don't use Adobe. Linky. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tpbbschYKjE I use Corel. While it's not as powerful as Adobe it has enough features and power for me to do what I need to do. I've stopped counting.

Yeah, that’s the only one that can actually replace Adobe Illustrator. I still go back to a non-subscription version of illustrator though as I’m just more used to it.

It's interesting to learn that Adobe snoops on you with this subscription nonsense. Ridiculous and invasive. I use Photoshop CS6 and it's mine, bought and paid for and it's not connected to anything and I'll never use an Adobe product that I have to keep paying for each month. Fucking loan sharks. Wow

You can try Canva and see if it works for your use. I use the free version to make all sorts of designs using premade elements that you can search for, or upload your own, if that is your thing. I know a pro graphics design lady and lately she said she uses Canva for a lot of her branded projects as it is so fast and easy to create designs with.

Here’s the link to affinity. https://affinity.serif.com/ You can get the entire suite, which is Photo, Designer and Publisher, for one price and it covers Mac, iPad and Windows installation. It’s called Affinity V2 Universal License. $164.99.

I like that! It's pretty inexpensive, I might buy one for my wife to try out too as she's pretty creative. _____________

This looks promising. I just can't afford (money and time) to hire someone on Fiverr to do this. _____________
