Yes, government education is a socialist construct. It started in the early 1900s. Socialist schools can only lead in one direction: socialism.
Education is and should be the primary responsibility of parents. Turning that primary function over to government is collectivism. If you want freedom to endure, private education is the only way to educate children.

The "no scandals" claim came directly from Obama himself where he said his administration was the first in modern history that hasn't had a major scandal in the White House. He repeated the claim at MIT in 2018 saying "we didn't have a scandal that embarrassed us."
The second quote is technically true - Obama was incapable of embarrassment and the media made sure he never had to worry about it anyways.
His minions are just repeating the talking point.
