What’s your favorite weather app?
We love to overland, or remote travel and camp. When doing so we usually keep a pretty close eye on the weather when traveling, particularly on our longer or more remote trips and have noticed that the 2 weather apps we are currently using have differed in their short term weather forecast which left us with some doubt about the situation…

So, we’ve decided to see if there is anything better out there. What is your favorite weather app and why?

Thanks!

Weatherbug...paid version. Has good radar maps, fairly accurate, can warn you if bad weather is in opne of your saved areas

Dark Sky. Hands down.

I really like the hour-by-hour wind predictions, and how crazy accurate they often are.

Weatherbug. Accuracy is good. Radar is good. Customizable.

My favorite weather app is Dark Sky.

It provides all of the weather info I want in a neatly organized form:
* Temperature (actual)
* Temperature (feels like)
* Precipitation probability
* Precipitation rate
* Wind velocity
* Wind gust velocity
* Humidity
* Dew point
* UV index
* Cloud cover percentage
* Pressure (millibars)

And a very good “weather radar” display.

I used to keep several weather apps, but discarded all of the others when I discovered Dark Sky. It’s an “all in one” weather app.

It costs several bucks, but is well worth it to me. A one-time fee.

ETA: Also, at the bottom of the display there are concise weather predictions for the next seven days.

And TIME MACHINE – “Explore weather in the past or future.”

NOAA.
Been happy with it for years and it's pretty accurate. Maps is pretty detailed and does a good job showing current radar.

I think I'm going to go with Darksky. I do like WTForcast for the humor.

"The Weather Channel" app ... as I have found the radar function showing rain to be very accurate down to the minute.

Yep, loved the app...right up to the point Apple bought it and took it off the market for Android users. Mad

Android user here.

Been using NOAA Weather Unofficial (Beta) by Granite Apps for years and years. Accurate forecasts, great displays, options for hourly data, alerts, radar maps, etc.

I use home screen widgets from both the NOAA app above for current conditions and Weather & Widget - Weawow for a 6 day forecast which uses Dark Sky for data as the weather provider among the options available.

I also use Windy for it's thunderstorm lightning with sound displays. Big Grin

I use Weatherbug but I will take a look at Darksky. I bought the professional version of Windy to get the weather and tides on the Chesapeake Bay. I stopped using it because the tide predictions are wrong and usually the opposite of reality.

SIMSIG, I'd be interested to know which truck that is, the awning and tent system and what you're carrying in the back. A very nice setup!

It appears you have some flatware ready for use by the tail light.

BTW, perhaps you dragged in a dead cat near the back wheel?? :-)

I d/l Dark Sky. Is there a radar with it?

For me, it's TWC app. It gives, daily, hourly to I think 36 hours ahead. Has radar with several different views. Radar has current and future.

Hard to beat.

Are you talking about the same Dark Sky that Bigdeal is talking about?
