Get my pies outta the oven! ![]() |
This is crazy, I think I asked about this before here. I’ve been noticing certain shoes I wear that one of the shoes seems looser than the other, no matter how tight I pull the laces. Just got a new pair of sneakers for Christmas and I’m walking around in the store and my right foot sneaker feels looser than the left foot! Seems like one of my feet changed sizes over the past couple years, is that normal? I’ve never heard of this happening and it’s quite annoying that one shoe feels like it fits perfectly but the other feels like it’s a half size too large. Has anyone else ever seen this or experienced this before?

probably a good thing I don't have a cut |
Has the arch collapsed on one of your feet? When I was in high school my Dad could wear my shoes, 10 1/2M. Last time I went shoe shopping with him he was buying a 13. At that time I also measured my feet for the first time in over 25 years. I now buy an 11M.

Several years back when my local Red Wing got a computerized device to measure feet I tried it out. It showed one foot was smaller than the other. I never really cared, jut kept wearing the same size anyway.

You can gain/lose weight in your feet. It doesn't always happen evenly. Your feet can also swell, which doesn't always happen evenly. Trauma can also cause feet to be uneven. My left foot is slightly larger than my right (mainly on the top), due to scar tissue from a moderate crush injury when I was a preteen. And as noted above, your arch shape can affect show fit. I wear a slightly narrower shoe when using my arch support insoles, or in shoes with built-in overpronation arch support, than I would otherwise.

Just because you can, doesn't mean you should |
Are they quality shoes? A possibility is that the sizes were mismatched at the factory. If they have insoles, pull them out to compare. ___________________________ Avoid buying ChiCom/CCP products whenever possible.

My right foot has always (at least as far back as I can remember) been a half size bigger than the left. But no changes recently.

My left foot is 1/2 size longer than my right foot. My right shoe is always loose on my foot resulting in an extra insole for most all of my right shoes.

I wear custom orthotics in all my shoes due to high arches, including sneakers. SOP is to rip out the factory insole and put those in.

Running shoe stores, the good ones, have a computerized scan of your feet. Get the scan. You will have data to go along with perception. ------- Trying to simplify my life...

After I hit 60 or so, I had to go from wearing a size 13 to a 14 in most shoes and boots. And yeah, my feet have always been slightly different sizes.

Also, shoe sizes are not consistent between companies, or even internal to a company. I’ve been shopping for shoes lately and the sizes vary a full size.
