Some are made in Mexico (I actually think Mexican jobs, in Mexico help the US), but the quality is significantly higher than any other guayabera I've had.
There were some loose threads on one shirt (had much more expensive custom ones have that issue), but the fabric quality and drape were impressive.

I had to look it up. Never heard of them. I think I’ve seen them, isn’t that what barbers wear? Lol
My wife has never accused me of approaching any level of fashion sense, but those are atrocious. Run away. Quickly.
Do you actually use those bottom pockets? For your hands, your keys? What? Am I assuming correctly that the second set of pockets are what makes a guayawhatever a guayawwhatever? Or is it the pleats?

Hispanics and Pacific Islanders wear these on a consitent basis. They are very comfortable in tropical climates. Again, like wife beaters, these are not for everyone.

I guess my question is, notwithstanding being Hispanic or a Pacific Islander apparently (seems like a weird pairing but ok), why not just buy a normal shirt? There are plenty of button front shirts that are made to be worn outside your pants that don’t have all those seams and extra set of pockets? If it’s a cultural thing ok, but if not this shirt looks friggin ridiculous. Like something Rickie Ricardo would have worn while doing his lounge act. Ugh. And those prices. Do you guys really spend 75-150 dollars on what seems like a collared version of a work shirt? What are those second set of pockets for anyways?
Anytime someone uses wife beaters and your choice of clothing in the same sentence you should probably think twice before buying. Lol

Well I lived in Florida and Texas for well over a decade so I used to wear whatever my profession called for. If you are suggesting that ridiculous shirt meets some form of professional standard you’re nuts. Saying it’s a substitute for a sports coat is one thing. Actually being an equivalent is quite another. If I was dealing with a professional where coat and tie or at a minimum a sport coat was the expected attire and they came out in that silly barber smock looking thing, it wouldn’t leave much of an impression. I’m glad it’s Miami chic, it just doesn’t translate. Anywhere else. I showed this to my wife as a second opinion. Nope.
If you want to wear an untucked shirt in warm weather I get that. I just don’t get the goofy seams and silly pockets unless you actually are from that culture. Looking like a Central American wannabe 1950’s gangster isn’t a good look.
I’m not exactly sure using Ferdinand Marcos as an example to emulate is a strong argument. Lol

They are very comfortable, and you will fit right in in SF/Miami with one on.
I've often thought of getting a couple, as they are considered perfect for casual business wear here in FL.
I generally wear Columbia fishing shirts for business, but a couple of nice Guayaberas are on my list. I only wear my button down collar LLBean dress shirts when a greater level of formality is required.

Ha ha. Skinny jeans. Nope. You guys have to be clear for anyone thinking about these. They might be considered business wear in SOUTH Florida. That’s it. If you are wearing this outside of that very specific area you should reconsider. No I’m not a fashionista but I own a mirror and those are hideous. Might as well buy the straw hat too. Ugh. That website looks like it was created for the visually impaired.
I’m Italian so I had aunts that all they wore my entire life were moo moo’s. Some fashions should just go away and stay there. But if Ferdinand Marcos and Elton John liked them maybe I should think twice. Lol

^^^^^^^^^^^ Glad to see you have a sense of humor. Being Italian I am certain you are comfortable in a pin striped suit with a black shirt and white tie.

Wow. If ya don't like 'em, don't buy 'em. Jeez, everybody is a fashion critic. Down here we just kinda wear what's comfortable based on the season. In cold weather, that can include warm pajama bottoms, but not to work (mostly.)

I might buy one if I was a big game hunter going on safari, or maybe a top doc in a plastic surgery practice, but otherwise not for me. They look like something my grandpa would have worn and I'm not that old - yet.
Hey, if you like 'em, buy 'em I say.

I feel badly for you who have to worry about how you look or if your shirt matches your pants and socks. Since I am mostly color blind and the only taste I have is in my mouth, when I choose a piece of clothing I only have to ask myself one question. "Is this comfortable?" If yes, good to go! Rod
