The man, and his family, certainly has my pity and sympathy.

He's not a thief, a terrorist, or a shitbag as far as we know. His sin is what, that he works at an industrial plant in China?

I don’t begrudge anybody gallows humor, I have worked in a world where it is necessary.

That being said I agree with you, poor bastard was just putting in his hours at the “office” like he’s probably done a 1000 times before and in a literal instant he is GONE both spiritually and literally and honestly that makes me a little sad. Like I said I hope it was a bright light and then nothing, no pain, no comprehension etc.

He was definitely a contender. But, then he won.

And what are they manufacturing that can create a condition like this?

From the article it sounded as if the product of the process was hydrogen.

Hydrogenation is a basic chemical process that reduces C=C double-bonds by adding hydrogen atoms to a molecule. Many widespread uses, e.g. the food industry to process polyunsaturated vegetable oils.

Mr. Wang made a grievous mistake in neglecting to charge the catalyst chamber with inert gas, and then switching on the vacuum valve to suck in fresh air; sort of like a backdraft explosion.
