Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best![]() |
This is a timely thread. I just finished an OC recert today and helped with a class of new recruits. 18 got sprayed. Some had a stronger reaction to it than others, but they all got through it. I've been sprayed a couple of times myself, and while I wouldn't do it for fun, it's not unbearable. If I can fight through it, and those 18 kids today could fight through it, so can a motivated bad guy and so could a motivated bear.
Now that's some funny (and really stupid) stuff right there!

On above advice, I ordered a couple of small cans of Fox in the stream type. Should work for whatever needs I might have, just hope I don't have to use it. The “POLICE" Their job Is To Save Your Ass, Not Kiss It The muzzle end of a .45 pretty much says "go away" in any language - Clint Smith

For the record, dogs have different anatomy which is why there is dog specific spray. I wouldn't use that on people and I wouldn't use regular OC spray on dogs because it may not be effective. Unless you have absolutely no other choice. I've done a bit of research on this over the years and I currently carry an MK3 sized can of Vexor OC spray. Vexor is 15 million SHUs whereas Fox is 5 million IIRC. Some cops I know that carry Vexor and have used it have described it as hell in a can. An MK3 sized can in a soft shell belt loop pouch fits nicely in your front pants pocket and keeps the activation button protected. And as others have said, do not store it in your vehicle. In the summer or the winter.

If regular oc spray is legal. Bear spray would be as well. But bear spray is weaker than human spray so be aware of that!!!!
