I need to paint the new double door on my shop. It gets direct sunlight pretty much all day, so it needs to be something pretty rugged.

Back in the day, I'd have used an oil based paint, but that's no longer an option AFAIK.

I think the exterior skin of the door is fiberglass. Jamb is wood.

Oil alkyd is still available.

Avoid dark colors in any case…fiberglass will not take the heat gain well.

Don’t use oil. Latex has come so far that it now outperforms oil. Get Sherwin Williams Emerald or Duration. Use a good primer.

California 2010 Semi is what I'd use.

I like Benjamin moore, but Sherwin Williams emerald is on a house in South Florida I used to manage and gets a lot of sun and has held up really well.

Thanks, all.

I'll probably go with Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams, both readily available locally.

Tell me you’re gonna spray it!

You can still get oil based paints. You could get a quart of auto paint from a parts store and spray them Ford blue!!

That’s what I did also! West exposure, used Ford blue base then cleared with semi gloss urethane clear.
I do wax the door 2 times a year. Looks brand new…did the door in 2008, used S/W.
