I hadn't been in for a couple years and since I was nearby anyway I decided to stop in the local gun store today and what a pleasant experience. They sell new and used guns and have a range, and since the last time I was there they enlarged what I thought was already a nice selection.
I wasn't looking for anything in particular rather just admiring different pieces like a CZ Shadow II's, Beretta 92XIs, Colt Pythons, CZ457's, used guns, etc. The counter guys were helpful but not pushy, they left me alone but happily pulled out any piece I wanted to handle. When I was about to leave I thought I'd ask if they happened to have a P210 in stock because I'd been considering buying a P210 American since they came out but never handled, or honestly even saw one. He said "yes we have a P210 Target let me get it for you". My impression was positive, the finish was flawless and it felt nice in my hand, similar to a Super Target only shorter. The price was $1,499 which is probably msrp but I've seen them on-line anywhere from $1,500-$1,800, and he said no additional for CC (or discount for cash). And here's what surprised me as I was pondering, he said "and there's no sales tax on guns in WV." I've wanted one, it seemed fairly priced, no shipping, no tax, 3% back from my CC, so what the hell. Smile

I think you're right Gene I've been interested in purchasing one for a while, but assumed I'd have to go through the hassle of ordering so never got around to it.

They had just sold the P210 Carry they had and he showed me details of the new Carry Custom Works coming out that they should have pretty soon. I like the polished slide (but not its engraving) and 3rd magazine. I believe he said the price will be $1,999.

That's a very nice piece, you didn't ask them how they got it? In reality people buy, trade, and sell these pistols all the time, so who knows?

I've yet see a post here where someone complains or regrets about a "Stopped at the LGS today and bought ..."

What I do see are the "Stopped at the LGS...Went back the next day and it was gone! Woe is me." posts. Big Grin

Congrats on the new gun, pictures are a requirement in the waiver or you have to turn in your unitard...

My LGS trimmed it's hours back to 6pm close during COVID, now they close at 7 vs 9 pm prior to COVID, they also pulled all the used guns and now sell them at the Gun Show and on Gun Broker.

In the past three years I've saved thousands because by the time I'm done for the day its too late, and I don't have time during the day.

Since the used cabinet is gone, not really upset, even if the hours were back I'd probably buy less, can't say how many new guns I bought because I went looking to see if someone turned in something cool I could buy used like the K22, or 29-2, and others.

Oh well.... That P365 is still on the back burner too, last gun I bought was just at the beginning of the COVID crap....

no sales tax is nice.

"It did not really matter what we expected from life, but rather what life expected from us. We needed to stop asking about the meaning of life, and instead to think of ourselves as those who were being questioned by life – daily and hourly. Our answer must consist not in talk and meditation, but in right action and in right conduct. Life ultimately means taking the responsibility to find the right answer to its problems and to fulfill the tasks which it constantly sets for each individual." This was a bad thread for me to open with my wife away visiting some of her friends. (Actually she doesn't care as long as it's in the budget) I've been thinking really hard about another Python but a P210 seems even better. I might do a bit of driving around tomorrow to break up the boredom.

Well someone recently posted of trying to buy a gun at Bass or Cabalas and they left upset and w/o buying, so it does happen.

In this case things couldn't have gone smoother, they didn't ring it up until after the form was approved (which took all of 3 minutes).

OK I rushed a couple pics but I really need to work on my photo skills. LOL I'm just fortunate this store isn't even closer!

It is. I asked him about that and he said back in 2021 our Governor Jim Justice made guns nontaxable "in the interest of encouraging firearm business." Whatever, I like it..... and I'll vote for him when he runs for the Senate!

While she's away sounds like a perfect time to "look at Pythons"! They have them there in three barrel lengths.

RideWV-
Love the new P210, solid score.
The legislature ended tax on firearms a couple years ago, and it really is a great benefit.

Thank you VictimNoMore.
Not adding 6% tax IS a great benefit, in fact it makes me want to go back and look around some more! Smile
