They're referring to the genetic bottleneck that happened after a climatic cataclysm. Perhaps after Toba erupted. Estimates are that only 3,000–10,000 or so remained. ![]() He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

Humans are a mishmash of genes from several different species of proto-humans. There is even speculation that we have Neanderthal genes buried in our very distant past. We were not spawned from a single mated pair. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

That is assuming DNA strands as they exist now with all of their unknowns and imperfections existed then, not as might have existed in a proto-neo world. The more science works to discredit the Bible, the more questions are raised... or answered, but that would be atheistically heretical. Let us compromise on the fact no one living now was there then.

Our primate RGB vision has existed for 50 million years. Of all the mammals, most primates/great apes have color vision. The mutation is traced to the X chromosome. Squirrel monkeys do not have the mutation. This mutation is traced to primates that have bare skin patches. Homo Sapien included. Some people, mostly women, have a mutation for a 4th vision cone. This 4th cone mutation runs in my family. My brother and I have it, my older brother does not. My Uncle on my mom's side does. Science doesn't work to "discredit the bible". Science is nothing more than an idea that is tested, a method created for reproducing the results then reproducing said results for verification. ![]() He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster.

It is actually a fairly widely accepted idea in biology that in order to sustains itself, a species cannot drop below a certain population level. Given what we know about how evolution and genetics work, the idea that ANY species could even survive dropping to two individuals, much less thrive, is ludicrous. Even if those two and all their offspring lived to die of old age, reproducing the whole time, the odds of species survival would be negligible. There is a reason we start trying to preserve a species well before it even gets named endangered, because there is a point of no return no matter what you do, even with outside influence, which this theoretical Adam and Eve wouldn't have had. _____________ O, here will I set up my everlasting rest and shake the yoke of inauspicious stars from this world-wearied flesh. Saw an interesting article on the peopling of Australia. While it is possible a pregnant womancould have started the population the math is against it. Were it two people that population would go extinct in 70 years. Two couples would boost this to 120 years. It’s not you reach 8 couples, 16 people, that you get a self sustaining population. When this was applied to space colonization, a population of 150 was set as the smallest self sustaining population. “ The work of destruction is quick, easy and exhilarating; the work of creation is slow, laborious and dull.

So a whole bunch of humans developed all at once from the genes? It’s hard enough to believe one or two but multiple humans sprung to life from nothing all at once? At some point the beings had to reproduce, how many were there when that started? Personally, I think that’s harder to believe than creationism. We are so advanced that we know what happened “millions of years ago” but we cannot even reliably predict weather. I’ll stick with creationism and you can stick with the mishmash of genes from proto humans.

Time scale is the problem many people have with evolution. No, a whole bunch didn't develop "all at once". Over the course of millions of years a few here and there started to take on characteristics that we recognize as human. As more of them found each other and mated, the characteristics slowly became more pronounced.
