Have a GunVault MIniVault Deluxe safe, sits in the closet on a dresser. It will open properly with DC transformer connected but not with the battery pack. I don't have a plug in the closet so it needs to work with the batteries, which it has for several years.

But that's not the crazy part.

Sent in a request afterhours to cannon, got the email back, with a control number, 4 days later, zip, nada, nothing.

So decided to call, and after a brief hold of 15 minutes get a rep who has to be the most unqualified person to be on a phone.

She asks some questions to get the model, and the issue.

I explain that it's not opening the door under battery power.

First question, "do you use it a lot", to which I reply, no but I'd like to think I could, it's a gun safe. Her reply, the motors are weak, they don't last. To which I reply "are you telling me the motors you use for a gun safe people depend on for protection are junk? Of course she replies no you're misunderstanding,

So back to re=explaining the problem, since I established with her that it works on DC power, well I think I did, but not battery, again, Her response, the motors are made in China and are not reliable, which I replied, "are you seriously telling me your company makes inferior safes with defective or unreliable parts from China that people depend on for safety and their lives?"

She then accused me of putting words in her mouth, to which I asked if the call was recorded, got a Yes response, and then asked for a supervisor, which of course requires a call back, that will never happen since she'll bury the call and never send it to management.

I'm going to call back, find someone else, and work my way up, all I wanted was to get a replacement part, and ended up with a service rep that was bashing her company product, lied about doing that, on a recorded call.

Unreal...

Now I have to find a replacement, whats a good option for two level counter top models

Amazingly bad. My guess is if a supervisor heard her throw the company under the bus as she did, she would be out the door already.
I would determine who the CEO of GunVault / Cannon is and send him an old-fashioned snail mail letter about your experience, via registered mail with return receipt requested.

I have found that asking for the issue to be escalated is more likely to generate a response than specifically asking for a supervisor. I suspect that most CS drones hear "your supervisor" when asked for "a supervisor" which has the potential to expose their failures to someone who can negatively impact their job.

I have a Gunvault Minivault early model. It only ran on batteries (8 AA I think). It would work for a few months and then die. Not something you want to pay for battery wise or depend on.

The nieces and nephews are all grown up, so...

I have a gun vault mini vault that the motor stopped working. There is a tiny wire inside that pulls the door catch when the motor actuates it. The wire broke. I saw a fox on YouTube but have yet to buy the parts. I emailed customer service and was told they don’t have any replacement parts at all.

These go to eleven.

Well, no call back, which I suspect that it was never requested, the thing is, all I wanted to do was buy a new battery carrier, since that is the problem. Hook up a new 9v it works, hook up DC power, works, the battery carrier has an issue, looks like some corrosion and even cleaning it up doesn't solve the issue.

Did an online Chat with Cannon re Parts, this confirms what you said, they have zero parts available for their GunVault line other than keys, if it breaks, it's trash.

Update: found the battery tray on ebay, only issue is that it has solder connections and I need the 9V connections, would have to get a 9 v connector and solder it to the tray.

Same issue. Mine eats 9 volt batteries. I found a 9vds rechargeable that has been working.
Not all 9 vdc rechargeable are above 9 volts

Quick question, are you using rechargeable batteries? Some devices won't work with them, or only work for a short time. I believe the owner's manual mandates Duracell 9v only.

Duracell 9V, that part works, there isn't a problem with the safe or the connection inside the save, or DC plug.

It's the 12V AA battery tray that comes with the safe, you can put in 8 AA 1.5 batteries and it lasts way longer than the 9V.

The issue is the tray isn't allowing power to the connector, its the tray and GunVault doesn't sell them, found one on Ebay, going to order it but it doesn't have the 9V connector, so I have to order that, then solder it to the tray.

Hmm since mine is old it takes 8 AA batteries. But since I’m unlikely to fix the motor and I can still use the key, would you like my battery pack? Maybe it can replace your 9 volt?

That's generous, I've ordered the one from Ebay, a whopping $12 with shipping let me see if that fixes the problem if not I'd be happy to get it from you.....

The keypad on my father-in-law’s cannon safe has never worked reliably after being replaced four times. My opinion of their quality and service has been as low as it can get ever since.

I have one and I slammed the door to hard. Not sure why I did but it must have broke the board or severed a connection. Customer service was no help. I contacted the local gaurdian lock company that is the only one in down that works on safes. The only guy that worked on them was the manager who was fueding with the owners and the owners kept pushing me off and pushing back the service date. My guns did close to a year in jail. When they finally drilled it out he felt so bad that he gave me a S&B lock for free.

I loved the keypad but never again will I buy one on a safe!!!!

I have to amend my reply. I found 9 v rechargeable batteries that worked. What I failed to realize, is that like cordless lithium power tools, there is little to no warning when they die.
Spent last couple hours looking for the key I just had two months ago

Cannon's customer service is terrible.

Recently I overloaded my top shelf in my safe and the shelf broke. I was storing ammo on it. Dumb in hindsight but what's done is done.

Contacted them online as they show replacements available on their website. They answered a few days later and told me that no replacements are available so I'm outta luck.

Thankfully I remembered one of my neighbors does woodworking. He was able to fix it and add some reinforcement and I paid him with 2 six packs of quality german bier.

I do not recommend any products that Cannon supports.
