She had an iPad a few years back.... but here is why I want a newer one for her: not the newest but a year or so old. Specifically so she can watch our virtual church service on Sundays . I'd like to be able to either connect or transfer the signal to our TV... this at the moment is not a smart TV but does have Roku. But I could if need be go to a smart ass TV... (the service is on Facebook Live) She is not computer literate but has used an iPad in the past to go on line and I think this would be the simplest way for her to connect. She only goes to service about once a month, but I go just about every week to sit in the foyer and 'look out'. It's one of those obligations I've committed myself to. Thank you Very little |
Check Costco, they have good selection and prices, there are places you can buy used iPad but be careful because Apple won't allow IOS upgrades on older machines, and thus, many apps from vendors are not certified for those older IOS, so you can't run say Amazons most current app without a more current IOS... Woot has second hand iPads from time to time. and we ran into this, bought one for my mom as she would use it for minimal things but we couldn't load Amazon, Kindle etc...

You can also check out Apple's refurb program - they come with the same 1-year warranty and are eligible for the AppleCare service extension https://www.apple.com/shop/refurbished/ipad --- Diligentia, Vis, Celeritas

Apple Refurb is the way to go. You’ll get something that is virtually brand new for a nice discount off a new price. Other vendors “refurb” theirs with a cleaning and testing but Apple actually replaces components like screens and batteries and gives you a warranty: Apple Certified Refurbished

$299 at a number of sellers. Amazon, Walmart and others. I know you can cast "mirror" to Roku from an Apple phone so with out researching, I'm pretty confident you can do that from a recent version of iPad. You need to follow the steps and it's not like just pushing one button, but a little practice it's not all that difficult. Men fight for liberty and win it with hard knocks. Their children, brought up easy, let it slip away again, poor fools. And their grandchildren are once more slaves. -D.H. Lawrence

Thanks for the suggestions... it sure gets confusing trying to narrow these things down when they make so many different versions. My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"

No, not like Bill Clinton |
I just got a refurbished Galaxy S20 through Amazon Renew, it was $200 cheaper than buying from Samsung Check the link for an Ipad https://www.amazon.com/Apple-i...id=1624379038&sr=8-4

You will need to buy an Apple TV device that will connect to your network and your TV (via HDMI) to send wireless signal to your TV. Once you get it set up, it’s seamless. We have been doing this each Sunday. Actually watch the service of a little church in Maui where a dear friend is the pastor. I second looking at Apple refurb iPads but you can buy a new last years model from Costco or Amazon for about $300 (without cellular connection). _________________________ “ What all the wise men promised has not happened, and what all the damned fools said would happen has come to pass.”— Lord Melbourne
