This is what a gentleman I know wants to buy to give a night security guard at his business. Unarmed. Just observe/report/call cops. Copper thieves have been ripping out wiring and lighting and he wants an extra layer of security.

I told him it’s probably garbage but he wants me to look into it. LMK if it’s functional. Or recommend a better quality IR or NV spotting scope setup please.

Thanks in advance.

...raise one finger on each hand up.

They may be better served with a thermal imager. Putting 240v on the copper would be more entertaining with a thermal imager.

How does he intend to use it, mount it? Looks like you have to mount it on a rifle scope?

Might get shot pointing that at someone if mounted on a stock etc.....

Several years ago I bought my son a night vision scope so he and the family could turn out the lights, sit on the living room sofa and watch the wildlife in the yard. We discovered it would not work when looking through glass.

Don't know how he expects to set this up, inside looking around the room or look from the outside in. It may not work if the guard is looking through glass windows.

Thermal all the way. FLIR will be stopping civilian sales soon. For the price these are entirely too good. FLIR Scout TK Handheld Thermal Imaging Monocular (Renewed) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R..._api_i_VprMEb7Z9T2ZG

I'll try to post a video tomorrow.

Why are they stopping, how do you know and when will they stop?

Do you know the reasoning behind this?

I’m not sure why but it was in one of the zillions of press release emails I get. I’ll try to find it.

Edit: https://www.thefirearmblog.com...n-le-military-sales/

I think I had a pre-senior moment. They’re not completely shutting off selling to non-sworn personnel.
