Keeping this separate from r0gue’s thread. . .

Having recently gone through a full-roof shingle replacement process with a homeowners insurance policy claim, here is my Homeowners insurance PSA to the SIGforum crew which may save you a lot of aggravation and money.

Check with your insurance agent to see if you have a “matching endorsement” or “matching rider”, which I did not have.

If you have a home with older roof shingles, siding, brick, stucco, etc., that would be difficult to “match” in style, color, construction technology, etc., this affordable option (under $90 / year for me) allows for the entire area (roof or otherwise) to be replaced, and not only the damaged section or sections (as in my case).

In almost every state it is required by law to offer a “matching endorsement” AND require it for homeowners insurance coverage, but in PA and a handful of other states it is an ‘optional’ purchase for the homeowner.

Needless to say, the discussion with my insurance agent DID NOT GO WELL when I asked them, how after being a customer of theirs for over 25 years, that they had NEVER presented this option to me.

I am going to switch insurance companies and agents after the roof gets done and I get the ~$1K ‘holdback’ from them.

Me as well. Got pissed off at State Farm and switched all my vehicle policies via an independent agent.

Tried to switch homeowners as well and no one would touch me due to recent claim.

All claims are reported to the ISO which all companies have access to. The amount of info in that system is, staggering, to say the least.

With all of this AI and the explosive demand for these huge data centers, perhaps it's time we have a national conversation regarding the amount of personal information being collected and stored by others.
