If it could be done from a safe location, watching Mount Everest crash into the gulf near the Yucatán peninsula. A second choice would be a day of dinosaur watching from a high hide.

"An event or two..." I wonder if there would be any time constraints on that? Couldn't afford to be gone too long- the bill collectors apparently need me.

That's tough, but I'd have to say:
Jesus' baptism.
The last supper.
Some time with the Apostle Paul, or Luke, or John.
Kicking it with King Solomon to find out if Agur and Lemuel were two more of his 'other' names.
And, I'd kinda like to go back to the time of my birth to see if I was really as ugly as people say.

I see panoramic photos of a time when both sides of the Mississippi River are filled with steam powered side and stern wheeler flat boats ,
Here in the Quad cities.

It was a horrible time to exist for many,
But it might be interesting to spend three or four hours touring the area then.

I am talking 175-200 boats.

That's a crap load of river traffic.

Of course, that was before the interstate highway system was built.

I watched "Raiders of the Lost Ark" this afternoon and got to thinking that watching the events that led to the disappearance of the Ark of the Covenant would be incredible. I've always had a fascination with how something this important simply disappeared without any known historical documentation.

Thanks for starting this thread, Black 92X. It has been interesting and thought-provoking.

1. Dinosaur watching.
2. Be present at the Battle of Hastings 1066.
3. Signing of the Declaration of Independence.
4. Ride along in the Enola Gay, with protective eyewear and lead underwear.
5. Since we're talking time travel, I’d like to be simultaneously on the 6th floor of the Texas School Book Depository AND the grassy knoll adjacent to Dealey Plaza just to find out what REALLY happened.

Since part of my Masters involved a short but fascinating period of studying Ice Age North America, I would have liked to have witnessed the last break-up of the Lake Missoula ice-dam, which released 500 cubic MILES of water across Eastern Washington State, carved out the Columbia river Gorge, and filled the Willamette Valley to a depth of 400 feet all the way down to Eugene.

Then back a couple of thousand years to see Mount Mazama as it blew its top - making Crater Lake in the process.

Add to that the Mackenzie River lava flows and you can see that American a few thousand years ago was not only noisy, it was pretty dangerous!

Would also be kinda cool to see the events of Operation High Jump and the Philadelphia Experiment play out as they say they did.

Watch firsthand as the Piri Reis map is charted, drawn, and illustrated.

Witnessing an Elephant Bird before they were driven to extinction.
