Well, todays your day. Had a coworker who believed every bit of it.
Would call off today, never do anything with the number 13, came back to the plant one day
parked next to me then pulled out drove around the block and came back, his odometer
ended on 666.
I think the only thing I've ever done is knock on wood.
How about you?

knock on wood, that just seems like good karma. Otherwise no. Although I must admit that Friday the 13th has been unusually cruel to me sometimes, but not always.

Not really but my mom is. She'd say some crazy shit like "if you wear a green hat, your wife will cheat on you..." Roll Eyes

Or "if someone is leaving, don't say something like 'don't come back' or they'll die." She knew someone who said it as a joke and the guy ended up getting killed in an auto accident.

I knock on wood and when donning clothing etc I start with the right side. I don’t know if any of it has improved my circumstance but I certainly don’t want it to get worse.

My coworker friend came to my house one day after work, set one foot in the front door
looked up at the top of the stairs and saw our black cat. He let out a yell and went back on the porch
and said does that cat have any white hair at all? I said yeah she has 8 or 10 on her chest.
he let out a sigh and was able to come in.

To some extent. I don’t think about Friday the 13th, black cats, and ladders, but let’s just say I don’t like to tempt fate unnecessarily (thanks Irish mother).

I'm not superstitious, I am paranoid.

As Kissinger said (the one thing he got right, no less)

"Even paranoids can have real enemies."

To which there is a corollary

"Just because you think the entire world is out to get you does not mean the entire world is not out to get you."

First met my wife on a Friday the 13th.

We celebrate every Friday the 13th with a nice dinner out since getting married some 36 years ago. Smile

I’m not superstitious in the least. However, the officers at my LE agency seem to be. If I tell an officer or dispatcher that the day/night has been quiet, they instantly jump all over me. They think me saying ‘quiet’ is going to jinx them into getting busy or to receive difficult or violent calls for service. It was ‘cute’ for a while, but again, they jump all over me each time, so they really are superstitious or the negativity towards the ‘Q word’ is just heavily ingrained in the agency’s culture.

Not really, although...

In 1987 I was living at a boarding school in the Arizona desert. There was a student shooting incident which resulted in his demise on Friday February 13th, which happened to coincide with a full moon.

Four weeks later on Friday March 13th (not a full moon) my parents were involved in a MVA, fortunately resulting in only minor injuries.

So while don't really consider myself to be superstitious I did find the timing of these events to be a bit odd.
