I opened this thread shortly after the OP posted it. I thought I’d give it some thought before making my mind up. After giving it a couple days thinking about it I’ve decided no. I’ll support my local organizations as the NRA seems to have written CA off.

The NRA had a chance to "Reform" themselves recently. I haven't seen any evidence that occurred.

WHEN/IF the NRA begins taking the usual suspects, the liberal shithole states/cities to court, and actually achieves multiple MAJOR wins, then I "might" consider donating some cash.
The NRA will need to get those potential court victories with other peoples money, not mine, or from reducing bullshit activities and programs that aren't directly related to litigation.
I guess the process I am thinking about, is Pull Yourself Up by Your Bootstraps.

In my opinion, ALL NRA activities/benefits/programs, should be pared down and/or eliminated. Concentrate solely on litigation. Become the feared giant in the room again, as was the case in the distant past.
How about one NRA BOD Member for each USA Circuit Court Territory, as has been suggested here on this Forum previously?

New York, California, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Delaware, Washington state, Oregon, Washington DC, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maryland, New Mexico, Illinois, Hawaii, and likely others.
WHEN/IF the 10 round magazine restrictions, assault weapons bans, banned Glock sales, NYS concealed carry improvement act, waiting periods, gun rosters all disappear.
When they all get overturned, ask me again if I care what the NRA is doing, and "IF" I might donate to the cause.
Yeah, likely all a pipe dream...

Until the above happens, the NRA will not get a dime from me. I really don't care about much of anything the NRA does anymore. Wine Club? Planned Giving? Seriously???
How about some litigation that FORCES punishment/personal loss of wealth/loss of publicly funded retirement benefits on politicians, governors, attorney generals, and legislatures, that deliberately and willfully enact laws that are ruled unconstitutional? That would make me grin! Make those pricks & assholes THINK about the Constitution before they VOTE!

What will this unconstitutional law I am being asked to vote on, cost me personally? Money out of my own pocket, not stolen from the public coffers?
If you are a unconstitutional bill sponsor/author, quadruple the financial penalty along with a public flogging in the appropriate building so the other politicians can see the result.

The big wins if the NRA can get them? I will read about them here on the SIG Forum. I'm not holding my breath while waiting.

I'm a lifetime benefactor NRA member, I don't need to renew. All requests for anything from the NRA get deleted instantly if they arrive via email.
Contest announcements, annual meetings, special programs, wine buying services, dry begging for money, it all gets shredded if it arrives by USPS.
I get a cheap calendar every year from the NRA, I hang it on the wall. The included begging for cash form gets run through the paper shredder also.
The photos on the calendar are nice!
I do enjoy reading American Rifleman, keep that coming!

Isn't Michbo asking us for help to change the NRA.

We don't have to like the NRA's past direction but if we would like to see it change, then it behooves us to participate as members, with out participation nothing will change.

OF course it's everyone's right to dissent, and for those who'd like to participate, you'll need your NRA member number...

I too support GOA and 2A more than the NRA...

If the NRA can figure out a method for straightening themselves out, like an alcoholic, or drug addict, or pornography addict, they must want to do it.
It must come from an internal desire to do so. They must want it badly.

Telling the NRA to reform, or telling an addict that they must stop drinking, doing meth, watching donkey porn, it just doesn't work.
My personal opinion is: The NRA is addicted to spending Membership money frivolously. It's a tough nut to crack, ditching an addiction.

Yes, having the NRA return to former glory would be great, and I have no personal desire to help them out. They need to figure it out on their own, or the organization will perish.
