New Zealanders will welcome a new right-leaning government after the Labour Party was swept out of power in a heavy election defeat.

Former airline executive Christopher Luxon, 53, will become New Zealand's next prime minister after his centre-right National Party received the majority of votes.

The Labour Party, led by Chris Hipkins after the resignation of Jacinda Ardern in January, conceded defeat at a gathering of party faithful on the evening of Oct. 14—estimated to lose nearly half its seats.

New Zealand went pretty totalitarian during Covid, I’m not really surprised that the pendulum is now swinging back the other way.

^^^ This exactly, if it truly is to be a right leaning government.

Maybe we could get lucky too, I sure could use it, shit is getting seriously crazy. I thought the Carter years were crazy, but the shit that's going on now is orders of magnitude worse than anything I remember during the Carter years. Let me know if I'm not seeing clearly.

It would appear that the Kiwis aren’t the only ones Down Under who are fed up with wokeism. I don’t know a lot about Aussie politics, but it’s always heartening to see LEFTISTS get rejected by those who they would intimidate. I know there’s an Aussie who frequents this board, so maybe he can expound further on this.

Australia has had its Brexit moment. Woke PM Anthony Albanese asked Aussies to sign a blank cheque and got a big fat zero in return

Australia has had its Brexit moment, firmly rejecting Prime Minister Anthony Albanese's plans to enshrine a 'Voice' for Aboriginal people into its constitution.

In the wake of his election victory last year, left-leaning Labor Prime Minister believed that the rest of the nation shared his view - and that of his metropolitan inner Sydney electorate - that an Aboriginal body should be consulted on any future laws that affect Indigenous people.

The working men and women of Australia disagreed. All six states voted No.

New Zealand is a weird place. They used to send great Kiwi fighters during WW II. Now they don’t have an Air Force. Goood on ‘em for electing a conservative but let’s see whether their “conservatives” are as bad as the Tories in UK.

I am as skeptical as others here that this "conservative" government will make any significant changes, such as increasing defense spending, undoing the damage done by socialized medicine, or restoring firearms rights. I think that the analogy to the Tories in the UK is more appropriate for what a "conservative" government in NZ actually means or looks like.

Their isolation has allowed callow and weak minds to seep into their national conversation culminating in the election of Jacinda Ardern, paragon of feminists everywhere. While Far Left sentiments have always existed (think aftermath of Greenpeace's ship bombing) in NZ, they've really gone off the deep end the last two decades....the RNZN is reduced to a handful of small combatants and TWO logistics ships. The RNZAF is pretty much a SAR force, has zero combat capability, not saying they should have strategic bombers but, NZ is a large Pacific nation, they need to act like it. They have very limited ability to patrol their region, provide any kind of deterrence toward encroaching Chinese fishing fleets and provide any assistance to neighboring countries.

It is so strange. Fifteen years ago, when I saw the winds changing rapidly here with the rise of BHO and fascism, I began to explore other countries that I expected to be more free than us. I immediately started checking out New Zealand and Australia. I thought of both countries as very pioneer-spirited and more like we once were. Boy, was I shocked.

I wish them the best with this new direction. I hope it lasts.

I was more shocked during the pandemic by Australia’s behaviour, and that the population let them get away with it. Concentration camps! Violent suppression of protests! Then there was the gun confiscation.

Good for them. I'm not a smoker and think it's a dumb habit but this was most likely the beginning of all sorts of draconian bans there:

New Zealand's new government has dismantled world-first plans to ban future generations from smoking.

The pendulum swinging right back then wasn't precipitated by a global scam. This one is, and people are waking up and seeing these "Leftists" for what they truly are- scum.

I'm seeing a lot of it too.
Hopefully in places like New York, Illinois, New Jersey, California as well.

The thing about the Carter years, wright, is that the Dems were still traditional blue-dog Democrats, at least IMHO. Still, they were pure morons, but at least they weren’t OPENLY Communist and vehemently anti-America and anti-Patriotic like the LIBTARDS of today, starting with O’numb-nutz, The Crimsom Kenyan.

I will LOATHE that sunuvabitch and his ilk to my dying day. Need to pray about that……
