Perhaps Google needs to be more concerned with helping people in their backyard, instead of providing jobs in the 3rd world, not to help the 3rd world but to keep the bottom line in an upward direction.

Unfortunately the houseless problems (as George Carlin termed it) is not black and white. Sure, a significant number of houseless are their own victim, but there is a sizable group that is not -at least directly.

Just like it does not take much to put us back in to the 16th century, it does not take much too make one homeless.

Obviously, jobs paying a good wage, is a key component in starting to solve the houseless problem. Of course 'certain' political entities need the houseless for their agenda.

Education is another component, but it's not cheap - everyone wants to profit...... Plus, much of corporate America does not want to help educate as it impedes profit. Again, this is not a one size fits all either.

A HS diploma in getting a good job is dated. perhaps up until the 70's it was valid, but either a post-High School vocational education or a College education - undergrad type, is pretty much now the minimum to get a decent job.

A tough problem to solve. Even making Vagrancy a Capital Offense in England around Henry VIII and his son Prince Edward VI time did not solve the problem. Growing crops and bringing wool finished goods production from Flanders to England began to solve the homeless problem 70 years after Henry VIII started it by confiscating Catholic Church lands and selling these seized lands to his friends.

Of course was it not in the 70's when other states bought their unemployed / houseless a one-way Greyhound bus ticket to sunny California where the streets were covered in gold dust?

It only stands to reason that where there's sacrifice, there's someone collecting the sacrificial offerings. Where there's service, there is someone being served. The man who speaks to you of sacrifice is speaking of slaves and masters, and intends to be the master.

Ayn Rand

"He gains votes ever and anew by taking money from everybody and giving it to a few, while explaining that every penny was extracted from the few to be giving to the many."

The mystery of the Fall, Homelessness & eventual Death on the Street of my own nephew a few years back.

He was a non-combat vet, adequately educated & with extensive training & experience as motorcycle mechanic. Over the years his disconnect with family increased, despite multiple efforts from all sides but his.

The last I talked with him was after his move from Hawaii to Cali, and several years on the streets there. I sent money for a bus ticket to come back 'home'. His mother found a report of his death from overdose about a year later in an article she was reading.

His sad irrational drift away from home & family was irreversible. The closest answer he gave to rejection of 'job & home life' was something to the effect of 'not worth the effort'. It's hard to believe, having grown up in the same clan merely 8 years older, such would be the result of all the love, care & attention I know HE had.

I have jettisoned my own attempts to understand the forces bringing so many to such a lifestyle.

And they want to increase it! I'd venture only $20K in actual benefits make its way to the homeless. I bet you could devise an incentive program that allows a bum to receive $10K cash, but only accessible outside of CA and only in person inside a bank in Kansas. Problem and poop solved!

You know its bad when the local U-Haul store is also a realtor's office. A realtor that specializes in relocation.

Could we agree to Chicago or maybe Detroit as a more appropriate relocation center? Wink

Uhaul companies out there are having a problem with getting their trailers back because more people are leaving than people coming into Kalifornia using Uhauls.
