Correct! John Lennon and Paul McCartney happened to be watching Saturday Night Live when producer Lorne Michaels made the offer, and almost went down to the station to accept.
George Harrison appeared on the show a few weeks later, feighning confusion over whether the $3000 offer was total or apiece...
In Mel Brooks's Silent Movie, he was the only actor with a speaking part.
