It seems a shit show MAY be coming to town…
Here’s hoping all this is BS and actually amounts to nothing.

10/28/17 Protest planned with several groups rumored to be participating in Shelbyville TN. Bedford Co.

The League of the South is the first and only group that have made offical contact with the city. All the following are rumored to be participating.

The League of the South
KKK
BLM
Showing Up For Racial Justice (SURJ)
ANTIFA
A local III% group

The Mayor and city Council have issued a “resolution” supporting the right to protest, and no permits are required here. The city has set aside a location for protesters, opposing groups on opposite sides of a road and they plan to close some roads starting the night before.

At the last city council meeting Police were present for security and to escort council members to the meeting because some of the protesting groups and some irate citizens opposing the protest were in attendance.

Shelbyville PD only has about 35 patrolmen, and roughly the same number in the Sheriffs dept.
I’m sure the THP will be here. For what it is worth… I have been told by a friend who has direct contact with someone in local law enforcement that the FBI is sending 200 Agents.

I moved out of town two yr ago to a small community of 500, 10 miles away from Shelbyville, but both my Daughters with 4 Grandkids live within a mile of the planned protest. It’s a Saturday so the kids won’t be in school… I can bring them here. But my wife and one Daughter have to work that day, both within a mile of the protesters!

I’m a little nervous…

Find out where it is supposed to take place, and be elsewhere. Take the day off.

It will be interesting to see how Shelbyville PD, Bedford County Sheriff and THP (state troopers) will handle it should things get out of hand, or if anything even gets out of hand at all, vs. Charlottesville. I don't understand what the FBI has to do with anything, let alone 200 agents. Confused

If authorities are taking it that seriously, I wouldn’t want to be within walking distance of that event.

I'm not sure if any of those groups could actually do anything if they met hard resistance.

How did they decide who to put on which side of the road?

My Daughter works at the Rec Center. Hope the crap doesn't drift over there. My wife works that day as well. I may take and pick her up instead of letting her drive. She gets off at 1:00 PM.

Mags all full.

Otherwise I'll be 10 miles away... watching the News.

Nothing ever happens here. I'm afraid the local Law, regardless of how competent otherwise, are completely unprepared for a real shit show. Hopefully other agencies are being consulted.

Hopefully it will turn out to be nothing, but I figure I'd be a fool not to take it seriously.

I'd ask them to stay home. I'd gladly reimburse daughter for taking off the day so she didn't suffer the consequences of those Jack asses.

Maybe you can convince them both it's not worth it to go in that day. If nothing else I'm sure the traffic will make it a bitch.

That is quite the eclectic mix to be sure you just need some Illinois Nazis and a PTA group to round it out.

Seriously though best case scenario it’s a logistical shit show. I would keep your family home for that reason alone.

Ya know, the flu season has come early *cough, cough*.

If they do, however, go to work, I would make sure, even if going 20 miles out of the way, to approach the rec center from the leeward side of the protests, and egress via the same means. You don't want to be the vehicle that gets surrounded by protestors, no matter whom they are.

Don't want to get caught up in a "Battle of Athens"

Load up 3 more rifle mags. The crazies within the fringe elements are unpredictable. Property destruction and looting are and end goal of many of the protesters who just go along for free crap.

They are coming to the Murfreesboro square this weekend also. Local police have asked the stores to close. Which sucks because my favorite restaurant is there and I wanted to go this weekend

Ohhh, I love a good catapult. I made one as an assignment in 8th grade. Scared the hell out of my teacher when I shot it and the projectile hit the glass windows about 9 feet above the floor (old building with maybe 12 foot ceilings built in the very early 1900's). Personally, I was impressed with myself, as this catapult worked far better than I had ever imagined. Trying it at home, it hadn't worked that well. But on the morning of the presentation, a slight tweek made all the difference. Yeah, I got a really good grade on this. Damn, that was about 44 years ago.....

I'm sensing a trend....something like...be somewhere else.

Unless they are going to get fired for staying safe, just make it a family day at your place...no worries then.

Had that crap show up in my home town when I was young, 1980's. Okra Turd Winfrey showed up to stoke the flames of racial hate. Forsyth Co. GA was never the same after that. It's been out of hand for a long time. Hope it doesn't turn as as bad for your town.

What a field day for the heat.
A thousand people in the street.
A singing songs and carrying signs.
Mostly say, " Hooray for our side."
