airbubbaWhat do I actually have to do to get new glasses?
i tried progressive lenses last time, can't wait for next eye check to get back to bi-focals.
way too much head movement required to find the sweet spot for everything from reading books, street signs, menus on walls, walking(stepping on/off curbs), driving.

I had issues with the new frames, glasses sliding down, and ear pieces not properly adjusted.
We changed the nose pads from firm to soft, that cured the frames sliding down keeping the lens properly positioned, adding having the tips of the arms adjusted fixed the movement issue.
I could very well be the frames are out of alignment,

sigmoidCould maybe be a base curve issue with the lens?
I am very sensitive to this as well

JasonEucI’m also sensitive to lens curvature. If it’s not what I’m used to, headache city.
Until I got a “bad” pair, I didn’t even know that’s a thing.

I think that’s actually increasing the strength of the lens. I wear contacts and only wear my glasses first thing in the morning and at night. I had an old pair of glasses and I use to do the same thing to watch TV at night.
If you go to a good Optometrist you’re going to get the right prescription, and you can bring the glasses back to the Optometrist and they can verify if they were ground correctly. If your Optometrist doesn’t do this for you, you need to find a different Optometrist.

I have the same result with my old glasses.
Optometrist tried without success to find my prescription.
He referred me to a specialist who confirmed his suspicion.
I have the start of cataracts. One of the telling signs is the large starburst halos from any light at night.

I had a good optometrist. She killed herself. Been to two new optometrists that can't get it right. My old glasses are falling apart or i wouldn't worry about finding a new optometrist. I guess i just find it strange that both new doctors are getting it wrong in the same way.
I know it's not my eyes that have changed because the old glasses are clear and sharply focused. Just made me wonder if they just do things differently now.

mark123Another bit of new information. When i move the glasses about 1/4” to the left on my face it clears up a bit. Using the right eye only moving right/left doesn’t seem to make any difference. However, the left eye alone clears up if I move the glass left. Still not perfect but better. Would that be an error in PD measurement or maybe they’re just ground incorrectly.

frayedendsWhat is your current prescription if you don't mind sharing? PD issues are more relevant the stronger the prescription, for single vision lenses at least.
These go to eleven.

TBHEye exam at Costco? Free? They stand behind their products better than anyone I’ve heard of. I’m on week two with their hearing aids and loving it!

mark123I visited the optician again. This time it was the more experienced guy that I talked to. I explained how moving the glasses changed the focus in the left eye and he went to the back and heated up the frames and bent them so they actually fit my face. It took 7 tries to get it right but i think he solved the issue. Now the left eye is actually involved. He said it was probably an issue with the left eye and an axis correction (something like that).
It seems that my old glasses are a tiny bit sharper but these are pretty close now.
