He hasn't told me directly but according to his father(my son) it's 18F Intelligence

| You gotta be one TOUGH AND SMART dude to pass the Q course! Congratulations to him and the entire family. And if anyone questions this current “soft and weak” generation, it’s MEN like this that still remind me that there are still some badasses out there!

When you get a chance, you might ask your son for clarification on your grandson's MOS. Because unless things have changed drastically recently, 18F isn't a primary/initial SF MOS. It's a more senior position within a SF unit, intended for experienced senior NCOs. 18F might be his goal down the line, but generally he's going to start out as a 18B (weapons), 18C (engineer), 18D (medical), or 18E (comms). Then after completing that 18B/C/D/E MOS training pipeline, making it to a team, and gaining several years (5-10) of experience, he might eventually earn the chance to go through another training course to become an 18F. (18Z Team Sergeant and 180A Team Warrant Officer are the same way. You don't start out as a 18Z/180A straight out of the Q Course. You might earn it later.) |
